In these adventures, Lupin organises a series of flamboyant heists under the nose of the determined Inspector Ganimard. He carries out the most amazing burglaries without ever leaving a clue. The innocent and poor have nothing to fear from him, but the rich and powerful, and the detective who tries to ruin the fun, are the targets of Arsene’s mischief.

The fictional gentleman thief is a master of disguise, a criminal genius and a moral figure well-set in righting a few wrongs himself when Justice can't be bothered. Arsène Lupin is traveling under an alias when he gets attacked and robbed by a mysterious thief. The police is under strong suspicion that the thief is the wanted Lupin. The real one will have to go along with the detectives in search of the impostor.

"The Extraordinary Life of Arsène Lupin in Prison", as per the original title, opens with a letter from Lupin to Baron Nathan Cahorn. Lupin demands the wealthy Baron send him several of his most precious valuables, or else... he will come and take everything. But Lupin is incarcerated in the famous La Santé Prison! When the deadline comes, detective Ganimard and his men keep a keen eye on the belongings.

This collaboration between French writer Maurice Leblanc and British writer/translator Edgar Jepson introduces the world to the fictitious French gentleman thief Arsene Lupin. The book was based on a play by Leblanc, and was first published in 1909. While the work reflects a young Lupin, listeners will recognize the character of this lovable burglar.
