Publisher's summary

Enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Yarros

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.

But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.

She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.

Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.

Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

GraphicAudio narration Far Above OG audiobook

This book and storyline is amazing….I originally purchased the original audible version and just couldn’t get into the story because I really disliked the female narrator. This version breathed realistic life into the story and made it so intense and enjoyable. Now I am sad because I have to wait until the GraphicAudio version of Iron Flame comes out because I just cannot listen to this series any other way now!

Best Book I’ve Read in Awhile

I have never been a fan of audiobooks but this was so different. I was so wrapped up I felt like I was sucked into the story. It was incredible and the story was amazing. I was so swept up in Violet and Xaiden love story! The story was so beautifully written and at parts heartbreaking. I love this book and wish it would never end.

Great book

I stumbled upon this series and can't get enough! The banter between characters is fun and witty. I love the strong female lead (that has a disability, how awesome is that)! I can't wait to continue with this series!

LOVED!

What an experience! I’m definitely glad I read the book 1st so this was just a refresher before reading the second book. And I’m so glad I did because it was amazing! If you want to get lost in a story, then this one’s for you.

Graphic Audio - Just Okay

Infinity stars for the book (which I’ve listened to about 15 times now), but only 4 stars for this Graphic Audio version. It wasn’t bad by any means, but the things that got to me really got to me, and I probably won’t listen to these again over the standard Rebecca Soler version. My biggest issues were mainly because of mispronunciation of so many names throughout. Not sure why the actors weren’t all given a pronunciation guide so they would all say names the same way, but the inconsistency was hard to get past. Some of the side character actors also lacked inflection when they were speaking. Tairn roars “lightning wielder” in the book with so much pride, but it was barely distinguishable as a line in this audio. Garrick was also emotionless, when he interrupts Xaden and Vi to tell them that a lot of people are dead, there wasn’t a hint of alarm or urgency behind the words, it was just stated like a fact. I’m also kind of sick of the fact that Graphic Audio uses the sound of walking on rocks for about 80% of the sound effects, and misses other sounds that could be so easy to put in. It was the same way in ACOTAR, it just makes it seem like the entire book revolves around people walking around and not doing anything else. The fight scene at the end did sound really good though, with the wind, the fire breathing, the wyvern cries, etc. And the actors for Vi and Xaden did amazing through it, particularly the emotion in their voices at the death. That whole scene redeemed this audio for me, just not enough to listen again when the standard version is so amazing.
