The million-copy bestselling Queen of Twists Alice Feeney returns with a gripping and deliciously dark thriller about marriage. . .

. . . and revenge.

Author Grady Green is having the worst best day of his life.

When he eventually finds her car by the cliff edge the headlights are on, the driver door is open, her phone is still there. . . but his wife has disappeared.

A year later, Grady is still overcome with grief and desperate to know what happened to Abby. He can’t sleep, and he can’t write, so he travels to a tiny Scottish island to try to get his life back on track. Then he sees the impossible: a woman who looks exactly like his missing wife.

Kind of Fun

The story was fun, but so very far fetched. I find books scarier if they could actually happen .

of all the books my last favorite

it feels almost sacrilegious to leave a not glowing review for Alice, but the story was just so all over the place and confusing and not a good way. I knew that no matter how it ended it wasn't going to measure up. I think just the story didn't lend itself to a reader's ear. I didn't hate it but it certainly wasn't my favorite of the bunch

This plot of this book was too far fetched.

This book felt off all the way to the end. I kept waiting for connections for some of the stories that never came, even at the end. Some of the dialogue was very repetitive. It was disappointing.

Frustratingly slow with a decent twist

I found about 86% of the book to be painfully dull. It would occasionally hook you just enough to keep you reading, only to fizzle out into nothing, then drop a breadcrumb to reel you back in. The cycle was frustrating. Grady’s character was insufferably stupid—his constant “this time I really saw my wife” moments (for the 15th time!) were exhausting. If I had to hear it one more time, I might’ve had to DNF the book because it became nearly unbearable. I came close to quitting several times, but somehow pushed through. That said, one of the twists at the end was surprisingly good and gave me a new perspective on everything that happened. It made me reflect on the story a bit more, but overall, the book was just okay. Not sure I’d recommend it.

Great Start.. disappointing finiah

What started as a great Gothic thriller, ended in silliness and convenience. When I got to the destination, it made me not enjoy the ride.

Woah

This was a great story. Lots of interesting plot points got you thinking. I liked how the author switched between the husbands and wife’s view points without it being annoying or confusing. Good twists, I didn’t want to put it down. I wish there was a chat feature on here like a mini book club as I want to discuss the end but don’t want to ruin it! It’s good, def recommend

Loved it! The audiobook sounds immerse you in Amberly Island

I have loved each book from Alice and looked forward to the release of this one. The descriptive writing made me feel as though I was in the story walking with the characters instead of reading it. The sounds woven throughout the story- church bells, the sea, rising phone- only enhanced an excellent performance by the narrator. I often read thrillers, so can usually guess the direction the story will take from the beginning. The concept of this book felt fresh, interesting and kept me guessing about what was next. I genuinely did not expect some of the developments and loved being surprised! I savored this book and did not want it to end. The best experience with an audiobook I have had in some time. Can't wait for her next story!
