About this listen

The orcs are thirsty.

And so are Captain Frank Gerber's swords, but apparently, you can't murder your customers.

Stuck with a nightclub after a job gone wrong, Frank has to figure out how to rebuild something he never even wanted. That's just the first of his problems.

Frank's blades will have a taste of blood again, but first, he has to party with orcs, barter with gnomes, drink with dwarves, and make shady deals with the scum of Sankta Varath, the greatest city in all of Steelheart Kingdom.

And that's just the first week.

Frank isn't a manager, he's got zero people skills, and even fewer connections in the business. With a drow for a bartender, a religious zealot for a waitress, an ogre with a sleeping problem for a bouncer, and an orc dancer, just what could go wrong?

Good plot but ok story line

Mr. Menesses performed really well but I don’t know what happened with the female voices. He’s usually better than this.

The plot line is good and the world building was great but there is so much referencing backstory that is never filled in that it just feels hollow after a while. I would have loved if he had just taken a chapter to explain what happened and not left feeling like a Borne identity failure.

Great story with fun characters!

It took a little to warm up to the narrator. By the middle though I loved his performance. Can’t wait to listen to more for this series!

slice of life - litrpg - action fantasy

several interesting characters, and personalities. Story plot is simple, self improvement. I increased narration speed to 1.35x which greatly helped with story pace and voice effects. highly recommend for readers who want characters to do more than fight an apocalypse

Not bad, but not great

My biggest problem with this story is it opens with this problem the main character has with his levels stalling out, but not too long after he discovers that dungeon diving is a great way to bypass that limitation and instead of pursuing that more aggressively he fixates more on leveling his tavern. To me the story was far more interesting when he was dungeon diving than most of the tavern stuff. I like slice of life plenty, but the tavern bits moved pretty slow and the steps required to progress felt disproportionately difficult compared to just going to the dungeon, leveling, and collecting loot. If the book had more of a balance between action and slice of life I'd like it better, but it just moves too slow and the leveling process for the tavern feels tedious.

A change of life is a change That's great for us

What is A bounty hunter to do When he enters the service industry we get to find that out with this excellent slice of Life Ragtag group Has very interesting plot that gets us to a point where we can see different aspects of the surface industry

Small story - Has A TON of potential - not book 1

I liked the characters, and the humor was good. My issue was the scope of the story. it just seemed small for Litrpg. A competent and interesting protagonist takes over a nightclub, and we get to experience the stirring struggle of him increasing his haggling, hospitality, and small talk skills. It's probably a great story for some, but for me, it just wasn't too exciting.

I like The Defiance Of The Fall, Dungeon Crawler Carl, Randidly Ghosthound, Unbound series for context.

The author is talented, and the differences between the races were broader than I normally see, so I appreciated that element. The magic system was interesting and classes as well.

I will give the 2nd one a chance in the future, but if it doesn't change, then I'm out.

Hilariously funny!!!!!!!

Omg it been such a long time since i got a book that was this funny and this good. Coming from a town builder book i thought this was a good opportunity to check this book out. Im a fan of the authors other books so i gave it a try and its definitely worth it for me. If this is a slice of life they should be more like this, well writen with an mc who does stuff. Night club owner, soccerer, ex merc, ex bounty hunter, ex solder, and not in that order. The mc is out to handle his shit in a crazy ass city, lol. Im getting the next book.
