About this listen

Chase Berrymore dreams of adventure, excitement, and getting the heck out of her pastoral halven village. But when adventure finds her, she'll be scrambling to save her family and friends from a necromancer's wrath. Outmatched in almost every way, she'll have to use her wits, charisma, and a bit of divine favor to figure out the path to victory.

Even worse, she'll have to figure out ways to deal with the weird and nigh-immortal beings that call themselves "playas"...and she'll have to do it with the most powerful weapon she has available: words.

Violence is not her forte, but cunning, deception, and careful negotiation with unstable and self-centered sociopaths might just win the day and save herself and her family from this horrible situation which she is absolutely not to blame for in the slightest.

A LitRPG romp from an NPC's point of view!

Not bad

SPOILERS AHEAD!!

Learning that the world is an actual game and not a world that suddenly got turned into a game kinda ruined it for me. The story is still fine tho, and so are the many puns. The Mc did kind of bother me tho, there would be tense moments and suddenly she'll want to giggle or do something random that totally threw me out of immersion. Yes I know the fox toy is cute! Get back to the raging clown zombies!

Excellent!

Tim Gerard Reynolds did an excellent job with narration and I'm so happy that Andrew Seiple has continued to expand this world. Very cool!

Exceeded expectations

I listened to threadbare and and while I did enjoy it I find this title a lot easier to enjoy. Joy. I think it's just something to do with the fact that the main character of this book is an actual living creature.. I really enjoyed what they did with the goalums you did with the golems and Some of the interactions but thus is much better for me.

The character progression is more enjoyable. The character is very intelligent and not naive at all and cunning.. The only downside is very minor but the the ancient language and yet and everything in this particular land is very particular land is very very Italian.. It just seems like a strange choice and and while I get that it is because there are developers that made this virtual reality and this particular land is Italian , it's just weird for me.. A narrator doesn't amazing accent. The story is very riveting. The skill progression and character build is not random but actually purposeful and and because the character can actually die there is some actual Tension. We start to learn more about what this place actually is with the introduction of players and honestly I think you will enjoy this book and the next one which I am currently on.

pretty good!

I enjoyed the book, like others from this author, I found my attention wavering around the 75% mark. I'm not sure why. I powered through and finished what turned out to be a rather smart, interesting novel. I like the golems, it's a neat detail.

Excellent continuation of Threadbear Universe

This is a very fun book but I recommend reading the Theadbear books first.

Great continuation of threadbear-verse

It's not completely apparent from the description, but this book is set pretty soon after the Threadbear trilogy, though it is only loosely tied to it. This book is of a similar, humorous style, but deepens the world quite a bit.

After Threadbear was over, I wanted the story to go on, but couldn't imagine the main characters doing it. This book is definitely a great way to do it, and I can't wait to see more in the series!
