About this listen

There is no weapon more powerful than the [Psychokinetic] mind.

Astrid, a mischievous noble teen, long dreamed of exploring the ancient cities preserved beneath the waves, left behind from a time before the ocean swallowed the world. She's been training all her life to become a magic swordsman capable of doing just that.

But when an ancient monster long thought dead assaults humanity's last bastion–a floating ship-city–she awakens her System early.

Only, she's not a warrior as expected. She's forced to walk the path of a [Psychokinetic] Mage.

With Spawn-infested oceans, pirates looking to plunder, and mysterious monsters that lurk within Bubbled-Cites at the bottom of the ocean, Safety is anything but guaranteed.

She’ll learn levitation, object throwing, eyeball pulling, and more, all the way to the apex of psychic powers.

But, what happens when she discovers that her world was a lot larger than she–and the rest of humanity, once thought?

Don't miss the start of this action-packed and often hilarious LitRPG Apocalypse series about a young survivor with a craving for adventure and fighting. Perfect for fans of Azarinth Healer and Eight.

About the series: Astrid wasn't expecting to awaken as a mage class, but that won't stop her from having fun. In fact, she'll no longer need to resort to laborious activities, including, but not limited to; picking up stuff, carrying stuff, or even throwing stuff. Everything can be done with her mind!

The pacing feels really off

seems like the author wanted to get right into the meat of the story with the minimum amount of explanation or any depth. the storys pretty good, but I struggled to get through the book

Good fun, annoyingly abrupt ending.

Great book, excellent narration. Wonderful character and world development. The ending nearly ruined the whole book with its abruptness. If it had a better written and more conclusive ending, it would get 4 stars for story.

Love it

Delightful and I loved how fast and action packed this book was. Sometimes a normal pace, other times wild and action packed, never slow.

The pauses ruined it

The story is actually very entertaining. It’s the pauses in narration that drag you out of the story and make it difficult to enjoy the book.

For Young Female Listening

The story isn't very good. The main character is annoying and painful to listen to.

Pauses.... so many pauses.

This book is extremely jarring. I am halfway through it and there is one thing that absolutely kills the momentum of this book.

The pauses, there are so many unnatural pauses that hang for a good 3 seconds and then resume that you can't tell where one chapter starts and other ends. The narrator will pause halfway through a sentence and wait so long that you think the chapter ended, then they resume like nothing happened and it gives you mental whiplash.

"The orc was lifted into the air," (3 second pause) "and then was flung across the room." A few sentences later: "she could see the rage in the orc eyes (3 second pause) filled with burning hate.

It drives me right up the wall! Who edited this?!?

A whole Lotta meh.

I can't tell what I dislike more the story or the narrator. the story's pace is lacking, the story feels flat and one dimensional. The main protagonist is a brat with theemotional range of a tea spoon. the narrator has no range what so ever it makes it quite difficult to keep track of who's doing what and where. no difference in voices. overall a pass for me.

The long pauses are the largest issue

Good first book that left off at a good spot. The MC is OP for her level from day one and her progression is fast. Largest issue with the actual story is the lack of information on how the classes work. Like when the MC reviews her stat screen there is some info that I don't understand and it's never explained. I'm still not sure if that was due to a lack of knowledge within the world or an oversight by the author or what the deal is. It also does not take away from the story in a meaningful way.

The narration was good but not great. There were too many long pauses within a chapter that made things kind of annoying. It's like you think "oh the chapter is ending here?" or " is there going to be a perspective change?" and then the dialogue or internal monologue continues like nothing happened. It's jarring but not enough to ruin the story. A little editing finesse in post would fix this right up. So please do that for book 2!

I'm definitely looking forward to book 2.

LitRPG Waterworld - with Bursting Eyeballs!

The story is overall pretty good, with humanity's bitter struggle for survival being a theme I always enjoy. I wasn't entirely thrilled with the snobbish, entitled princess attitude, but with a bit of a twist in the story with a certain skill, I was utterly thrilled with her more annoying emotional traits. I'm excited about the sequel, and can't wait to see all the new ways the MC uses her telekinesis (psychokinetic) powers.
