"La Metamorfosis" fue publicada por primera vez en 1915. Cuenta la extraña historia de Gregor Samsa, un comerciante viajante que vive con su familia en un apartamento. Un día, al despertar, descubre que se ha transformado en un insecto gigante y repugnante. La transformación de Gregor en un insecto simboliza su alienación y aislamiento dentro de la sociedad. Franz Kafka was born on 3rd July 1883, in Prague, then in Bohemia, the eldest of 6, into a middle-class Jewish family. His literary works are few in number but towering in influence. His masterpieces include ‘The Trial’, ‘The Metamorphosis’ as well as a number of short stories which reveal facets of humankind that truthfully could only be born from Kafka’s brain and pen. His classic short story ‘In the Penal Colony’ begins with the innocuous words “It’s a peculiar apparatus,” as the Officer explains to the Traveller, what this grisly machine will do to the prisoners who serve their time here.

L'ultimo romanzo, incompiuto, di Kafka, la cui stesura ebbe inizio nel gennaio 1922 (l'autore non ha ancora quarant'anni e ne mancano due alla morte per tubercolosi faringea) e proseguì fino al settembre dello stesso anno. Non esiste una versione definitiva dell'autore che anzi dispose che il manoscritto fosse distrutto. Più che un romanzo "Il castello" si può definire un insieme di frammenti in cui il personaggio K., arrivato a un non-luogo, un misero villaggio immerso nel freddo, tenta di avvicinarsi alla meta, il Castello appunto.

One morning upon waking up, Gregor, a traveling salesman, discovers that his body has somehow transformed into an insect-like creature; but his mind is somehow still intact. K. trifft in einem verschneiten Dorf ein, um dort eine Anstellung und eine Wohnung zu suchen. Er übernachtet im Brückengasthof. Am nächsten Tag überbringt der Bote Barnabas einen Brief des Kanzleivorstehers Klamm, der K.'s Anstellung als Landvermesser bestätigt. Man teilt ihm die beiden Gehilfen Artur und Jeremias zu, die angeblich schon früher für ihn arbeiteten - doch Gehilfen hat K. noch nie gehabt.

El relato nos cuenta acerca de la influencia que posee Josefina en su pueblo. Todos la quieren incondicionalmente y todos la adulan. Especialmente, porque adoran su forma de cantar. El canto de Josefina cautiva a todos los habitantes del pueblo, aunque la verdad sea dicha, muy pocos de ellos saben algo de música.

Georg Bendemann, hijo de comerciantes, enamorado y a punto de casarse, escribe a su (según su punto de vista) infeliz amigo en San Petersburgo. Para agradarle, Georg, oculta en su carta detalles sobre su exitosa vida. Después de largo pensar y de escribir apasionadas páginas hablando de su amada, le cuenta de su futuro enlace matrimonial.
