Imagine a person with a brilliant mind, but a very weak will meeting and marrying a person whose body is merely a vehicle transporting the "soul" of a very evil entity looking to trade bodies and become a man. Imagine also that this person with the weak will and brilliant mind is your best friend. Beware answering your friends knock at your door after midnight.

Mr. Washington, however, was determined to be educated, and he took advantage of every opportunity to learn available to him. He rose from poverty and ignorance to help found Tuskegee University. This audiobook should be an inspiration to all who listen.

H.P. Lovecraft blends horror with science fiction in this short story first published in Weird Tales. The isolated hills of Vermont were always suspected of being haunted in the 1920s, but we learn not by ghosts. For eons they have been visited by extraterrestrials. Left alone they were not a problem, but too close and trouble would erupt. This is a very dark tale.

This short story of unmentionable horror by H.P. Lovecraft is told by an unnamed named narrator (in this case Mike Vendetti) a friend of a mad scientist scientist named Crawford Tillinghast who is invited into Tillinghast's laboratory. Tillinghast may be mad, but he is intelligent, and he has invented a machine that affects a person's pineal gland and allows them to witness the hordes of strange and horrific creatures defying description that live invisibly among us. Fortunately they don't bother us unless the machine is running, and they are discovered.
