El escritor Robert Blake (supuestamente Robert Bloch), se obsesiona con un chapitel de una iglesia maldita que ve desde su estudio. The Shadow over Innsmouth is a horror novella by American author H. P. Lovecraft, written in November–December 1931. It forms part of the Cthulhu Mythos, using its motif of a malign undersea civilization, and references several shared elements of the Mythos, including place-names, mythical creatures, and invocations. The Shadow over Innsmouth is the only Lovecraft story that was published in book form during his lifetime. The narrator is a student conducting an antiquarian tour of New England.

"History of the Necronomicon" is a short text written by H. P. Lovecraft in 1927, and published in 1938. It describes the origins of the fictional book of the same name: the occult grimoire Necronomicon, a now-famous element of some of his stories. The short text purports to be non-fiction, adding to the appearance of 'pseudo-authenticity' which Lovecraft valued in building his Cthulhu Mythos oeuvre. Accordingly, it supposes the history of the Necronomicon as the inspiration for Robert W. Chambers' The King in Yellow, which concerns a book that overthrows the minds of those who read it.

The Festival, written by H.P. Lovecraft in 1923 and first published in Weird Tales in 1925, is a dark and atmospheric tale steeped in ancient rituals, ancestral mysteries, and Lovecraft’s signature cosmic horror. Set in the fictional town of Kingsport, Massachusetts, the story exemplifies Lovecraft’s ability to weave together eerie folklore, haunting landscapes, and an overwhelming sense of dread. The narrative follows an unnamed protagonist who journeys to Kingsport to partake in an ancient Yuletide festival at the invitation of his ancestors.

Warren había prohibido a Carter ver un libro que tiene, escrito en un idioma desconocido y del que deduce que existen puertas o escaleras entre la superficie del mundo y el inframundo, a través de las cuales viajan los demonios.

Se cuenta que en Ulthar vivía una anciana pareja de campesinos que se divertía capturando y matando los gatos de la gente del pueblo. Un día pasó por el lugar una caravana de peregrinos y el gato de Menes, un huérfano que viajaba con ellos, desapareció. Menes se enteró de las crueles costumbres de la pareja y, antes de partir, elevó una plegaria que provocó que todos los felinos de la zona fueran a la cabaña de los ancianos y los devoraran.

Their mission then becomes trying to uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of some of the members of the expedition. In the process, they uncover the remains of an ancient race of creatures and this discovery leads to a re-thinking of Earth's legacy and beginnings.
