My Life with Murderers is Wilson's account of his career, from being the youngest prison governor in the UK to gaining his professorship at Birmingham City University. His book is a study of the dark capabilities of human nature. In this interview, we spoke about the wide continuum of people that make up ‘murderers’, the decline of the prison systems and what sort of conversations he’s had with serial killers.

Award-winning journalist and science writer Helen Thomson joins us to discuss the release of her debut audiobook, Unthinkable: a fascinating exploration into the inner workings of human behaviour. Helen talks to us about some of the strangest brains she’s ever come across and the baffling symptoms they’ve exhibited. Ruby Tandoh talks to us about getting carried away recording the audiobook, avoiding moralising around food, and where the conversation on mental health needs to go next.

Zephaniah transformed performance poetry when he came onto the scene in the 1980s and has gone on to convey political and societal messages through his work. He’s also written numerous novels, children’s books and plays as well as releasing multiple albums. A multitalented man with an uneasy childhood and mixed up teen years, he has plenty to say in his autobiography. When he came to the studio, he spoke about overcoming his shyness, writing about his mum and what the West can learn from the rest of the world about peace.
