Nació en Berlín 1892 y murió en Port Bou, España, 1940. Escritor y filósofo alemán, autor de ensayos de historia y estética en la línea de la escuela de Fráncfort. Su vida y su pensamiento transitaron por los límites con el propósito de romper con el legado que justificó el Holocausto. Entre sus obras más destacadas figuran La obra de arte en la época de la reproductibilidad técnica (1936), Dirección única y El origen del drama barroco alemán (ambos de 1928).

Nacido en Italia en el año 1224, Aquino fue un teólogo y filósofo católico perteneciente a la Orden de Predicadores, principal representante de la tradición escolástica, y fundador de la escuela tomista de teología y filosofía.
