Book 2 of the series American Apocalypse continues the heroic struggles of an unlikely band of survivors in Southern Oregon. Joe Harp, the leader, was an overweight auto mechanic without any special survival skills. He had never been in the military but did know how to hunt, fish, and camp. He also had some notes his Grandma left him plus some survival books and supplies his Grandpa left him in an old cabin in the woods. Cobie Simms worked as a clerk at an outdoors store. She was working hard to survive before the SHTF while raising her daughter alone. Joe and Cobie team up to fight the evil around them and make life better for those in their small group.

By 2038, the apocalypse had been years in the making. The only question was—would it be caused by a financial collapse, a nuclear war, or a bio-weapon. No one thought the end of the United States would result from all three. Walt knew things were bad, but like most Americans, he felt the government would muddle through and keep its citizens safe. He was wrong. Too many politicians worked hard to line their pockets while not ensuring America would stay strong and survive. Walt and his loved ones have to face the apocalypse and the ramifications of life AFTER AMERICA no longer exists.

Joe had a cabin and land in Southern Oregon when TSHTF and retreated to the cabin to survive the massive die-off that was always predicted for an apocalypse. The weeks before the Grid went down weren't much better for Joe because his best friend, his fiancé, and his beloved Grandma all died before lights out.

Darkness brought on by criminals, drug addicts, and traitors in the band make life even more difficult. Our hardy band of survivors have at least temporarily solved the basic needs issues and have food, water, shelter, and weapons. Now they must seek out like-minded people to join their mutual assistance group and eliminate the criminals who want to be dictators.

EMP blasts started the apocalypse during Tom and his family's return flight home from vacation. Surviving the crash only caused them to confront the chaos of the apocalypse head-on. Even though they had survivor skills, and their ranch was set up to help them survive an apocalypse, the real apocalypse hits them hard. Tom has to break his grandfather’s rule about never bringing outsiders into their family survival group to help them meet the unforeseen challenges life throws at them.

Several years after the apocalypse slow rolled over the world, chaos still rules the day. Jeff and his small group survived the gangs and slavery groups on the island but had to flee Dauphin Island for Northern Florida. Jeff, the Old Man, might be in his late 50s but is up to the challenges met while leading his group to safety and freedom. Maria and Ollie learn valuable survival skills from Jeff and teach Jeff a thing or two about living.

Joe and his band of intrepid survivors have joined a larger group of survivalists. They are making life much better by implementing mutual-assistance groups that help protect each other and barter among themselves. While life is getting better, there are still threats to handle and pains to endure. The loss of a several loved members rocks the group and shakes its faith. Joe and Cobie make sure the group uses the pain to make the group stronger as they fight to rid Oregon and Northern California of gangs and slavers.

When Jason Walker and his dog MMax are both badly injured in an IED explosion while serving in the European war in 2038, they are evacuated back to the United States for the chance to recuperate and heal. But before the two can reach the relative safety of their designated VA hospital in Tennessee an EMP blast creates havoc and brings down their plane, leaving them alone and vulnerable amidst the chaos of a country that is on the verge of complete and utter social collapse.

Tom and his family survived doomsday, only to find the world falling into chaos and anarchy. EMP blasts had started the apocalypse during Tom and his family's return flight home from vacation. They struggled to get home, only to find a drug cartel and skinhead group fighting to take over Southern Oregon, where they live.

In this second book, the team having to hold up their travel to allow the wounded to heal. Jack continues to second guess all of Cole’s decisions. They continue to fight off criminals and FEMA as they save some good people. FEMA plans to start a new country under their control. They need slaves to work in the factories, mines, and farms. Cole has a personal tragedy caused by the death of someone close to him. The group suffers more wounds and deaths as they struggle on their trip to Oregon.

At 58 years old, Jeff Mann had read dozens of those apocalyptic sci-fi novels, and all were wrong. The cause was the incompetence of the world's governments and the failure of the many financial Ponzi schemes. First, the riots and looting came, and then starvation and depravity followed.
