About this listen

Jim Dale's Grammy Award-winning performance of J.K. Rowling's iconic stories is a listening adventure for the whole family.

'You are sharing the Dark Lord's thoughts and emotions. The Headmaster thinks it inadvisable for this to continue. He wishes me to teach you how to close your mind to the Dark Lord.'

Close your eyes and enter the magical world of Harry Potter. In these editions, Jim Dale's characterful narration is so entertaining, fun, and theatrical you can almost hear the crackle of the fire in the Gryffindor common room.

Dark times have come to Hogwarts. After the Dementors' attack on his cousin Dudley, Harry Potter knows that Voldemort will stop at nothing to find him. There are many who deny the Dark Lord's return, but Harry is not alone: a secret order gathers at Grimmauld Place to fight against the Dark forces. Harry must allow Professor Snape to teach him how to protect himself from Voldemort's savage assaults on his mind. But they are growing stronger by the day and Harry is running out of time...

Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter stories never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new listeners.

It was pretty good

I’ve ready the first five books so far, this one being my least favorite. That being said I still absolutely loved it. Jim Dale is the man! I love how he changes his voice for the different characters! Helps keep it interesting!

The Potter magic can’t be beat!

As always, the Potter series delights and enraptures audiences of all ages. I’ve read/listened to all 7 books and seen all of the movies. Harry Potter has certainly been a huge part of my life. Great performance, story, and as usual, the magic lets you escape reality, even if only for a few hours.

Like it, not love it

I like this book because
it is really exotic with dementors ,Voldemort and Black passing away (I’m kind of sad about that)
I dislike it because the narrator he makes Hermione sound like an idiot
But over all I really like it

story telling at it's best

The book lives up to its reputation and the narration is superb. The story of Harry Potter and his adventures at Hogworts become more challenging and complicated every year, as he grows into adulthood and becomes more capable of handling adversity.

Maybe the Best of the Series

Perhaps the most compelling thing about Rowling and the Harry Potter Series is how the books and the writing continued to grow with the reader. For 20 years the over arching story has drawn my attention, and the attention of many others from all walks. By the time book 5 arrived, Rowling's original readers were no longer 10-13 year old kids. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is, perhaps for the first notable time, not a children's book. Order of the Phoenix gives the readers much more mature topics as a now 15 year old Harry is on the verge of adult hood.

Once again, I cannot give enough praise to Jim Dale for his superb way of bringing the characters off the page.

The first time I read this book as a teenager myself, I could not put the book down. Dale brought the story to life in a way that my 30 something self didn't want to turn off. 26+ hours completed after just a few short days is telling of the manner in which Harry's story captivates readers, making this installment, perhaps the best in the series.

Wonderful Read!

This book answers a number of questions and gives insight into presumptions made in this entire series. It opens the mind for others to see the reasonings used by each character and the choices and decisions for how they view their life experiences. This book goes to some dark places, and it opens up the understanding of issues we have only had speculations. You get a view into the powers Voldemort has and the things he can do. Things happened to Harry and company for some unknown special purpose. The power of survival and the power mind control is strong, but so is the will to fight against it. It was a deeper look into the history of some characters that truly shines light onto their lives and the meaning they put into this storyline. This clear definition for these characters shows the bond that binds their coexistence and contribution to make this book series more thrilling and leaves you wanting more chapters. The answer to the feeling of why someone have to be better than the next, right versus wrong and who should or should not exist, continues. What a pity? To me, this book is an eyeopener and it answers so many questions and opens so many roads to understanding the why behind a lot of mystery, except why people are so mean to each other.
I continue to compare the books with the movie and again, it is a much more detailed and exciting adventure in the book. The audible narrator continues to make the listening experience worth it all. I could not believe I listened to the book a second time just because it was such a great presentation. Now on to the next book in the series.
