It: Chapter Two - soon to be a major motion picture in 2019!

Stephen King’s terrifying, classic number one New York Times best seller, “a landmark in American literature” (Chicago Sun-Times) - about seven adults who return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they had first stumbled on as teenagers…an evil without a name: It.

Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real.

They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Now, children are being murdered again, and their repressed memories of that terrifying summer return as they prepare to once again battle the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers.

Readers of Stephen King know that Derry, Maine, is a place with a deep, dark hold on the author. It reappears in many of his books, including Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, and 11/22/63. But it all starts with It.

“Stephen King’s most mature work.” (St. Petersburg Times)

“It will overwhelm you…to be read in a well-lit room only.” (Los Angeles Times).

Reseñas de la Crítica

"For a book with such a tiny title, Stephen King’s IT is one huge undertaking. It's a good thing actor Steven Weber is on board to perform it... Weber is skilled at wringing all the emotion, evil, and mystery out of King’s book about an ancient evil that haunts a Maine town and the seven childhood friends who band together to destroy it. He delivers a good Maine accent, a malicious clown, several women, and a giant screeching spider-thing." (AudioFile Magazine)

Featured Article: Misery—Book vs. the Movie

In the pantheon of adaptations of the works of Stephen King, of which there are literally dozens, there is one that stands out at the top: Misery, the 1990 film directed by Rob Reiner, starring James Caan and Kathy Bates. The movie still holds the distinct honor of being the only adaptation of a Stephen King book to win an Oscar. That accolade went to Kathy Bates, who won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her show-stopping portrayal of Annie Wilkes. Bates also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture: Drama for her shattering performance.

There is something wrong with the editing of this production. Many times the end of a sentence was cut off. A few times it was so abrupt I was worried I might have missed something. I downloaded the high quality one part so it may be something with that file. Happens most in the second half of the book.

Great performance - bad audio

Like many, I take issue with the occasional clipped word at the end of a chapter. While it doesn't completely undermine what is otherwise an exceptional story by Stephen King, and audio performance by Steven Weber, the distractions they cause do jerk you out for a brief moment all too often.

Great story and performance, annoying clipping.

Loved this book. 44 hours is a huge chunck of time but I was amazed how gripping the story was. i finished in just over a week. for those of you that complain about unfinished sentences at the end of the chapters it is being read as King wrote it. he uses that as a method of switching between the story when they are children and the story unfolding as adults. Weber does a fantastic job of narrating this book. The different voices for the characters are spot on throughout the entire book.

never a dull moment

Even if you have seen both movies, get this book. it fills in so many gaps. must listen.

Movies cannot do this justice.

I was so ready for this book to be over. The narrator was...enthusiastic. He yelled most of the dialogue. I get it, it's an intense book, but it was A LOT of yelling. By halfway through I wanted It to eat all the kids and everyone in the whole town just to make it stop.

I really loved this story. The suspense is there and you really don't know what It is until the end.... The characters are hard not to fall in love with or hate with a fiery passion.
Note: There are really 2 stories in the book and it can be hard sometimes to differentiate them.
There is a lot of abuse, of all kinds, in this book towards many of the characters. There was only one part I had to skip and it was the back story of Patrick. There were other parts that seemed forced (for example, the end scene with the kids in the sewer). There were somethings that seemed like too much time might have been spent on them and they did little if anything to improve the story.
I think that it is still scary and that most everything tied well and ended well. Like most others I had many seconds where the last word or two was cut. Frustrating but not the end of the world.

Overall, the story is meant to play with your emotions and it excels at that.

Great reading...this book deserved as much. Read it as a child and now just listened to it as a person much older.

This was my first Audiobook. I was getting tired of music and the various podcasts I listened to. I'm in the car a lot and needed something new. I've always enjoyed Stephen King novels so I figured that I would start with one of his. I chose "It" because I watched part 1 of the movie and wanted to "experience" the novel before I watched part 2. Steven Weber was phenomenal and brought the book to life. I was engaged from beginning to end and was kind of sad when it was over. Looking forward to more.

A great time
