'The Puzzler' is a humorous tale of a young man who is trying to engineer a meeting with an influential law lord whom he hopes will support him with a great business idea. A fortuitous chance means he happens on the law lord while he is conducting a lighthearted experiment with a group of old school friends. They are attempting to see whether a monkey can climb an araucaria (monkey puzzle) tree. The experiment ends in farce as the monkey escapes and gets into the house...exactly at the moment when the owners of the house appear.

Joseph Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) was an English journalist, short-story writer, poet, and novelist. 'Little Tobrah' is a disturbing murder story set in India. The eight-year-old Tobrah stands accused of the murder of his younger blind sister. The evidence is purely circumstantial...and then he recounts his own tale of what happened.

"The Jungle Book" (1894) is a collection of stories by English Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling. The stories were first published in magazines in 1893-94. The original publications contain illustrations, some by Rudyard's father, John Lockwood Kipling. Kipling was born in India and spent the first six years of his childhood there. After about ten years in England, he went back to India and worked there for about six and a half years. These stories were written when Kipling lived in Vermont.

Zwei ehemalige Angehörige der Britischen Armee reisen in das afghanische Kafiristan. Die beiden Abenteurer wollen dort mit Hilfe von Waffenlieferungen einen heimischen Stammesfürsten stürzen und selbst die Herrschaft übernehmen.
