About this listen
Marketing and PR expert Peter Shankman has been working with the biggest companies in the world to create what he calls zombie loyalists--fervent fans who help companies massively increase their customer bases, brand awareness, and, most important, revenues. Imagine an army of customers who will do your public relations, marketing, and advertising without being asked each and every time they give you their money. These are zombie loyalists. They are ready to buy what you sell, respond to your email offers, and demand that their friends do the same. Looking at exceptional companies like the Ritz-Carlton, Commerce Bank, and Starwood Hotels as well as smaller businesses to turn their customers into zombie loyalists, he shows how you can create your own customer army.

Story
We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

We've all had experiences with two dramatically different types of leaders. The first type drain intelligence, energy, and capability from the people around them and always need to be the smartest people in the room. These are the idea killers, the energy sappers, the diminishers of talent and commitment. On the other side of the spectrum are leaders who use their intelligence to amplify the smarts and capabilities of the people around them.

Most people believe that the best way to motivate is with rewards like money - the carrot-and-stick approach. That's a mistake, says Daniel H. Pink (author of To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Motivating Others). In this provocative and persuasive new book, he asserts that the secret to high performance and satisfaction - at work, at school, and at home - is the deeply human need to direct our own lives, to learn and create new things, and to do better by ourselves and our world.

Real. Actionable. Don't wait to listen or read!
Peter has delivered a seriously consumable and (more importantly) actionable framework for delivering happiness. The metaphor is funny and apt. The stories memorable and useful. I've been putting this thinking to work every single day from the moment I started the book.
