Acerca de esta escucha

A refreshingly practical and honest guide that rewrites the script on ADHD

Peter Shankman is a busy guy - a media entrepreneur who runs several businesses, gives keynote speeches around the world, hosts a popular podcast, runs marathons and Iron Mans, is a licensed skydiver, dabbles in angel investing, and is a loving father to his young daughter.

Simply put, he always seems to have more than 24 hours in a day. How does he do it? Peter attributes his unusually high energy level and extreme productivity to his ADHD.

In Faster Than Normal, Shankman shares his hard-won insights and daily hacks for making ADHD a secret weapon for living a full and deeply satisfying life. Both inspiring and practical, the book presents life rules, best practices, and simple but powerful ways to:

  • Harness your creative energy to generate and execute your ideas
  • Direct your hyperfocus to get things done
  • Identify your pitfalls - and avoid them
  • Streamline your daily routine to eliminate distractions
  • Use apps and other tech innovations to free up your time and energy

Filled with ingenious hacks and supportive self-care advice, this is the positive, practical book the ADHD community has long needed - and is also an invaluable handbook for anyone who's sick of feeling overwhelmed and wants to drive their faster-than-normal brain at maximum speed...without crashing.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Peter is a pioneer, an adventurer, an inventor and a seer. His advice is the best kind of advice. It is advice learned in the trenches, in the arena, on the fields of life." (Edward Hallowell, MD, from the foreword, best-selling author of Driven to Distraction)
"Peter Shankman is living proof that living outside the bell-shaped curve, combined with a drive to succeed, can produce amazing results." (Jordan D. Metzl, MD, author of The Exercise Cure)
"While ADHD may be considered a ‘deficit’ to some, Shankman positions it as an attribute within the context of our immediate future. ADHD is a unique gift of creative synthesis that makes sense only inside of the complex digital networks and hyper-stimulation that now defines us." (Amanda Steinberg, CEO, Worth Financial, and author of Worth It)

Wow! This book was so amazing. The material was right on point and described many of the challenges and opportunities I have faced throughout my life. What’s more it has helped me to no longer be ashamed of my GIFT, but to realize it for what it is and use it to my advantage. There’s definitely still work to do, but Peter, thanks for starting me out on the right path for my bright future.

Hit the nail on the head!!!

If you struggle, get this book. I was diagnosed with ADHD as a 40+ year old. I've been struggling with medications, therapists that also 'do' ADHD counseling, physicians who don't seem to really know too much about ADHD and, well, ADHD ever since. This is the first of 25+ ADHD books that I've listened to that really connects with me. Not that the others didn't have valuable information, but for the first time since my diagnosis 5 years ago, I am actually excited about moving forward and engaging my faster than normal brain. Mr. Shankman has many legitimate strategies and straight forward advice in this quick-paced, entertaining self-help book. 'Faster than Normal' feels more approachable and chocked full of practical advice than any other ADHD book I've listened to. Thumbs up! I am a fan.

This book is a beacon of hope to those like me who have struggled through life and realized all the pieces of ADHD fit after finally being diagnosed in adulthood. I've spent the last year and a half catching up on everything I never knew about this "disorder" and am so glad I came across this book that lets me see that it can be mastered and controlled into helping me in my life instead of devastating it. So much was relatable and put aspects of ADHD in a kinder and more positive context than I've seen before. I found this while my symptoms have been at an all time high (postpartum) and my self-esteem at an all time low. I'm looking forward to implementing all the tips over time, and it's been awesome being reminded just how intelligent I really am because of ADHD and not in spite of it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you

As you know we just need a little encouragement and ideas to help us in our lives. I plan to listen to this over and over again. As a man who feels like I can't ask for help and often lay in bed crying, just hearing another man say they have done the same thing for the same reasons is helpful in ways that can't be expressed. Thank you so much for the book and tips.

i loved this book from beginning to end. I listened to most of it while driving from GA to Charlotte. it made me laugh, and when the chapter for those living with someone with adhd came on, I had my ear glued to the speaker crying bc it is true that I am NOT vindictive, selfish and greedy helping to pull me out of a very sticky sitiation.

Eow, they are really .ore lile me out there
