About this listen

Tone can be an elusive ingredient in any communication.
Misused or misplaced, it can destroy any sense of connection.

Tone is everywhere. It is the snapshot and snap judgment of a song, a look, or a feel.

It is also a snap shot of our voice.

In one tenth of a second, our speaking can make an impression. That's a very small window. This window sets the tone.

We’re going to explore how to use it.

Whether you want to close more sales, build deeper relationships, or just relax, this collection of anecdotes, techniques, and tips from Marshall Davis Jones will teach you:

  • How intent affects our voice.
  • How our voice affects our mental state and the state of your listener.
  • How to listen to respond vs listening to react.

And more!

With Tonal Influence™, you will find a path to self-mastery through control of the world's most powerful instrument—your voice.

Tonal Influence guides you on how setting the tone can help you communicate and understand others better.

AI robots may be fast but human nature is fast naturally at setting the tone faster 1/10 of a sec. That’s one lesson Marshall Davis Jones teaches at the start of the book.

Each page has a different framework or technique to try In order to improve communication to understand and be understood better.

I learned how at 18 months infants understand tone, anatomy lessons on how the head, neck and shoulders can influence how the voice comes out to how your tonal influence in things I never thought or connected how tone is shaken by things like feeling disgust, smelling & nostrils movement, yawning, ums & filter words, insults, feeling awe, breathing, and even to not to talk while getting your blood pressure check.

The pages give lifelong lessons to be mindful how you are setting the tone in day to day personal and professional encounters.

In short, setting the tone is social magic glue but underestimate the importance of how you are saying things can led to bar wire encounters that close rather than open worlds.

Marshall Davis Jones guides you on how to open universes of tonal influence daily. Great job setting the tone on why we need to be mindful of tonal influence.
