Publisher's summary

He's tried to ignore them for too long.

But the long-simmering conflict between Montana's holding at Coggeshall and the Night Goblins who also occupy the valley is about to boil over.

Usually, goblins aren't anything to write home about: an enemy without much size, intellect, or weaponry. But these goblins? Well, that's just not the case.

These are goblins with limitless resources, never-before-seen tactics, and horrifying monsters at their disposal. Worst of all, they don't fear death in the slightest.

They just might force a good guy to become what he has always struggled to defeat.

Killing Them Awfully is chaotic warfare, nonstop battles, and more monsters with digestive issues than totally necessary. Ready? Let's go to war!

Meh

Least favorite story progression of the series so far, still enjoyable though. Look forward to seeing what happens next

I feel this one ended too quickly! Could be I couldn’t stop listening… when I started these books (audibles) there were 9 available. Now I’m caught up and waiting for the next lol.
What happens next?! Great storyline and narration as usual! Can’t wait for the next one in the series and the next one in the Bad Guy series!

A High-Octane Yet Frustrating Adventure

Killing Them Awfully” by Eric Ugland is an adrenaline-pumping addition to The Good Guys series, deserving a 10/10 for its plot and action sequences. The book adeptly brings to a head the simmering conflict between Montana’s holding and the Night Goblins, introducing goblins with unparalleled resources and terrifying monsters. This escalation leads to chaotic warfare and nonstop battles, keeping the pace thrilling and relentless.

However, despite the high rating for the book’s overall excitement and storyline, my patience with the protagonist, Montana Coggeshall, is wearing thin. His lack of intellectual growth, poor memory, and severe communication issues, which have been a constant throughout the series, have reached a tipping point for me. While there has been some character development since the beginning, Montana’s inability to grow in certain crucial aspects is increasingly frustrating. His character’s stagnation, in contrast to the dynamic and evolving world around him, has led to my decision to take a break from the series, despite there being more books available. It’s a testament to Ugland’s writing that the series remains engaging, but for now, Montana’s character flaws overshadow the series’ many strengths for me

Fantastic realism of events

Not a fan of the 2-5 minute chapters, but love the series and narrator none-the-less.

Great action , good pace, frustratingly daft main character

I love the scope of the world and the effort into building it that I’ve experienced over the past 10 books, but I thought at some point the main character would stop being completely stupid. I mean he’s had an ability to ask a question and get an answer once a day since the second or third book and has never used it not one time.
I guess the appeal there is allowing the reader to feel more intelligent than the main acting character, giving them superiority in their own mind, and then keeping wrapped attention on the next action, hoping something with some measurable intelligence will happen in line with everything we’ve learned from the story so far . But it doesn’t. it is so intentional I can’t believe that it’s not and that there is some plot progression/reader-listener hypnosis that occurs through the conflicts of actions.
And main character, who I love , is such a whiny little girl most of the time. When he isn’t slaughtering the evil with such grace and gore.

As always, I find having to go back from Eric's works to others to be disappointing.i would much rather ravenously consume the next in his series.

Intense

A great return to form for this book with constant action, adventure, and a whole lot of excitement. It also nicely filled in some of the outstanding tangents and of course added more. Looking forward to the next one.
