About this listen

Trapped between worlds. Potentia might be the way out. Time to kill Something.

Luke is an apprentice leather worker, training with his family to one day take over the business. He and his friends Andre, Taylor, and Zed have known each other forever, and swear that nothing will ever tear apart their friendship.

Then the Royal Decree comes. With the Dynasty of Dogs invading, and strange monsters appearing in the Hollow Kingdom, a draft has been implemented. Everyone 17 or older is required to be tested for "Potential". If they have it, they will join the mysterious and renowned Ascender Corps. If not, they will be drafted into the Legion as a forced recruit.

Three of the friends test as powerful, or dangerous, classes of Ascender. Luke is found to have Potential, barely, but when he steps through the portal to begin his training…he is pulled to a plane that shouldn't exist. With no class trainer, the possibility of survival is low. Luke decides that he wants to live, and keeping his humanity isn't going to help.

His best chance is going Full Murderhobo.

Dakota and Gilliland at thier finest.

Dakota has always had a talent for detailed progression systems that feel like they would be a blast to be a part of. And Gilliland brings the world to life with various voices and expert narration. Also some great bloopers "The f*** Dakota." is my personal favorite.

enjoyable

good story, good performance, if you've read Dakota's other books you kind of know what you are getting into, this is a very light and funny story more like Rexus but even more over the top. if you are new to Krout it seems like he pulls a lot from his D&D campaigns and and they are great reads to unwind very clean and pull a lot of humor into them focusing alot on character development, but there is still a compelling story going on.

Great story, meh narrator

I read the book and was looking forward to the audiobook but was disappointed. The story is great, Dakota is a fantastic writer, but the narrator was not up to par. There are plenty of great narrators that could have brought this story to life unfortunately that didn’t happen.

Legitimately has you wanting more

Just came off an Artorian bender and to roll right into this after all the other works was just fantastic! I didn't need any of the previous books by the same author to throughly enjoy what this book and I love how there's more to come.

good clean fun

most litrpg books I've found involve harems, vulgarity, and other such. this one is not only fun, it's full of memes, and plenty of humor. I really enjoy the bloopers at the end.

reasonable story, good narrator

This was a decent story. 4 friends go train in different areas and come back vastly changed because of the training. They work together to save the world. I didn't like how the experience gains happened or maybe I just didn't understand how it was all calculated with gains going to stats or levels. I will have to listen to it again to figure that out.
The narrator did a good job with the voices. I never mixed up who was talking. There was a good blooper reading at the end however it does use the F word quite a bit. It still had some funny bits.

Bottom line: Yes I will be getting the next book whenever it comes out.
