About this listen

Aegis will withstand a fire-breathing beast or a dreadful king hell-bent on enslaving the world, even if it kills him.

On a quest to gather allies against an impending invasion brought forth by the Warlord Trinket, Aegis is turned away time and time again due to his low level. His Transcendent status does little to impress top-ranking guilds who think him hysterical and mad, and does less to stop his enemies, the Roaring Bandits, from trampling through the land.

At his wit’s end, there is no choice but to take a giant risk and heed a challenge from a strange Castle-Watcher that will test the limits far beyond his level.

The path is plagued with seeds of his past from his home world, where he learns some of his guild-mates may not be who they seem.

Though his bonds will be tested, his love for family threatened, Aegis refuses to lose himself. He will stop at nothing until he acquires items legendary enough to stand up to the Roaring Bandits, and prevent the overtaking of Strathmar.

Will the might of Aegis’ guild be enough to save their home, or will they perish only to wake up in eternal bondage?

Another good one

I learned about Marco in a recent live event with Heath and Travis. Being a big Heath Miller fan I decided to give volume 1 a try. It was quite good, so I pre ordered The Immortal Kings. It was another well written and performed book. Looking forward to volume 3!

Just as heartfelt and fun as the first.

Heath Miller and Marc Mulero are killing it. There’s something about this story that separates it from the rest of the stat bloated others. The story arcs were also a great trophy in this one. I really felt for one of the side-characters in particular, but I won’t spoil here.

I wanna start out by saying I love the first book and this one as well but something in the last hour or so really bothered me quite a bit. SPOILERS STARTING!!!!!

Was anyone else annoyed by how easy the mythical beast was like the entire book was drilling into our heads that lvls equal power essentially with the party getting beat down by "max lvls" left and right but this "stronger than any raid boss that has ever been seen lvl99 mythic beast" that is supposed to stop entire would be kingdoms was dropped by a single max lvl party just 5 people it kinda made the beast lack luster and like making a kingdom is not as hard as the story makes it out to be I still have like 40 ish mins left in the book as I type this so something could happen with it still I guess but definitely feels far to weak if 5 people can take it down with no problem at all idk just my only complaint with the book wanted to know if I'm the only one who had a problem with it.

Commute that feels Nostalgic

I am a fan of the Shields of Strathmar series, mainly because these books reach me on a deep level. I have said this in previous posts - but these books and the character reminds me so much of my friends and I when we play an MMORPGs (massive multiplayer online role playing games) or TTRPGs (table top role playing games). Many people don't realize that MMORPGS and TTRPGS are not just about playing a game. They are about unfolding a story together with a group of friends, building deeper relationships with your friends and making new ones as part of a larger organization (a guild), its about accomplishing feats together, often beyond what outsiders believe you can feasibly do. You are part of that world, and you grow with that world. This series captures that feeling, and it really digs deep into how much you are willing to sacrifice for people you may have NEVER met outside of a game. the audiobook provides a convenience for me since I can listen to my books on my daily commute while driving, and the narration by Heath Miller is top-notch. I will continue giving these a listen during my commute as they are a very well written story and fell well executed audiobook. It certainly makes me feel nostalgic during my commute to work, about a simpler time when I used to play those mmorpgs with my friends.
