Publisher's summary

Corporate flameout Ned Altimer dreams of leaving his world behind. So, when Earthblood Online splashes onto the VRMMO scene, he dives in and never looks back.

His advantages are twofold: exclusive access to the game’s three-day Head Start period, and a ridiculously handsome talking axe named Frank who has knowledge of the game’s deepest secrets...if the magnificent Frank ever feels like sharing them.

But those advantages also make Ned a target. Once the Head Start period ends, his fellow players will stop at nothing to rip that suave, violent, yet disarmingly charismatic axe right out of his hands.

In 72 hours, the greatest manhunt in gaming history is set to begin.

It’s gonna be a lot of fun.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. One of the good ones!

It's very exciting to find a litrpg that's both good quality and long enough to feel worth being one book. The story is interesting and the game play aspects are well integrated and satisfyingly balanced withing the experience. The characters have balance and depth, and I found myself caring about each of them as individuals... Even the sentient ax.
The story has good flow and gave me the feeling of having experienced a complete, full length book (rather than the small episodes which seem to have become the hallmark of this genre).
Travis Baldree is an exceptional narrator. Truely a shining star of the industry. Elevating the experience of an already well crafted litrpg into a fantastic, deep, and well rounded experience.
Well worth the purchase.
Thoroughly enjoys this.

You normally hate mc's that are rich...

Normally I hate vrmmorpg books because they break immverision with the back you forth between worlds. This however I loved because it didnt do that. Also it had that crunchy numbers that I like with out breaking the flow of the story. The main character is likable and doesn't feel emo with too many emotions. Character development is still their though which is good.

Great banter carries the story

Enjoyable tale which takes a little to get into but sucks you in quite well. I really enjoy the banter between the main character and the axe, very funny at times.

One of the better litrpg books

I’ve read quite a few litrpg books (100 or more) this is the best one I’ve read in quite a while. Definitely worth the listen.

Ridiculously good

Straight up litrpg. No isekai nonsense, no trapped in a game world or transported to a new land, no sentient npcs or pretending they are real people, just very immersive virtual reality gaming. I’m not a gamer myself but i can definitely appreciate the no unnecessary frills approach.
The writing is excellent beginning to end and Travis Baldree was also on point with his narration.
Kirrin is definitely getting added to my watch list, I’m looking forward to more of his work 👍✌️

Incredible.

This is one of the best audiobooks that I have ever heard. The story line is a lot of fun, the characters are a lot of fun, and the narrator really brings it to life. I can't wait to read the next installment when it becomes available. I cannot recommend this book enough if you enjoy litRPG style stories. Listened through it three times in a row and still love it.
