Publisher's summary
A fearless warrior. An implacable traitor. The path toward a destiny only a god foresaw.
Fel'annár is a gifted immortal warrior embarking on his first patrol into the Deep Forest. Half-Silvan, half-Alpine, he battles the enemy from without, and the prejudice from within. But he learns more than just warfare when an arcane power begins to emerge, one he cannot control.
While friendships are forged, a destiny unfolds, one that is tied to a past he knows nothing about. For others, though, it is only a matter of time before the truth is revealed, and the danger becomes real.
If you love high fantasy worlds with compelling characters on a dangerous mission, you can't miss Path of a Novice, book one in the epic fantasy series The Silvan Saga.

When Venick is caught wandering the elflands, he knows the penalty is death. Desperate, he lies about his identity in hopes the elves will spare his life. Ellina doesn't trust the human, and not merely because he speaks the language of men. Men lie. In elvish, however, lying is impossible. In a moment of intuition, Ellina decides to give Venick a chance: learn elvish, reveal his truths, and she will set him free. That is not, of course, what happens.

Worth a listen
This is a good book. The plot is enthralling and the characters rich. It's a story that once picked up is not easily put down.
the one problem is that the author jumps point of view a little chaotically at times which can make certain scenes confusing.

Great Book!
I had already read this book and love the series, listening to it I would say that there are a couple voices I dont particularly like. Amareth's voice sounds like a very old lady and being that elves are immortal I do not believe that she would sound like that considering what I surmise her age would be. That being said I feel that is how it always is when you have previously read a book before listening to it because you already have preconcieved how they will sound so this is still an amazing book to listen to and would highly reccomend it to everyone!

Good story, but below is a rant about characters names
I liked the story and narration was good, but by god the characters’ names in this book suck, it can get really confusing. The main characters are fine but I could not remember one side characters name.
(Spoilerish)
There is a part in the book some side characters die and it’s meant to be sad but i felt nothing cause I don’t even know who they were due to the confusing names.

Delightfully engaging!
A mystical new world has been created by RK Lander and it’s fantastic! This sets the stage beautifully and leaves me yearning for the next book! I was wonderfully entertained and my attention had been grabbed! I look forward to the next book.
The narrator is absolutely amazing!! His voice is soothing and never got shrill like most do (and why I avoid female narrators). His different accents and voices truly helped encompass each character and brought the story to life! I’ll be looking for more books with Daniel Thomas May reading!!
Side note:: Nick Podel is also a wonderful narrator and very similar to Mr May

thought the story and emotional back drop were excellent. I can't wait to read addition volumes.

a hidden gem in the Elvin forests
Okay, so I stumbled across this book by pure chance and it was a huge surprise to me!
The story will slowly pull you into an Elvin world full of wonderful descriptions that do not repeat themselves like a few too many books do.
I can't begin to give this book and series enough praises. I'm a middle aged guy who listens to a wide variety of books and this one is on the top ten too enjoy not just one time but many times.
I found R.K. Landers style of writing to be in-depth, descriptive without being annoying and not full of real world flaws. Yes it is fantasy. There are good and evil in this Sylvan world, treachery, intrigue, hidden characters working in the shadows and friendships that span the depths of time.
As for the narration of this story, there is some minor flaws with the playback, some character voices in the first book sound similar but you can distinguish characters without any real fuss and he improves with each book so I am more referring to that in book one.
Mr. May has great voice and character range and I can't even begin to fathom how hard it would be to narrate a book with so many characters and giving them their own voices. Kudos! Bravo!
