The legends didn't do Dracula justice. Bat shifting is one thing. The ability to connect his mind to any he'd sired was an ability severely understated in the stories. His horde is like a bloodsucking Borg collective. Add to that his abilities to travel the astral plane and hypnotize his victims with a glance and his butt-load of money . . . There's a creek, and a paddle, and I've lost my paddle. I've defeated a god or two in my day. I've never faced an enemy like this. It may be my biggest challenge yet, but we have one advantage.

The Grim Reaper has been benched. There hasn't been a soul to reap in months. What did my brother do that has the gods in such a tizzy? It isn't like people stopped dying. If the reapers aren't ushering the souls of the deceased into the afterlife, someone else . . . or something else . . . will do the job. Mercenary monsters of ancient lore have emerged to fill the void. Banshees. Hellhounds. Soul-rippers. All under the command of some other god . . . Whoever he is, he's no friend to the Olympians.

I've been framed for murder. The evidence is damnable. To catch a vampire draining the life out of someone on camera.... When the killer looked back, my face was staring right into the monitors. Not even the Voodoo Queen can defend me. I'm on the run.

Dead folk are poppin' up like a whack-a-mole. It's my fault. Sort of. Who would have thought that helping a friend bring back a few folks he'd accidentally murdered could mean the end of the world? Here's what happened . . . when I raised a few folk, the veil between life and death was torn. Not a big deal. I mean, death sucks, you know? But the dead aren't coming back right. They're on a murderous rampage. And come to find out, there's an ancient god who wants to see it through . . .

Most of these gods hadn't been on earth for thousands of years. Some of them are enjoying themselves . . . a bit too much . . . Others are looking for revenge. They're coming for me. It's one thing to wonder whether I can possibly survive the wrath of the gods. Now that they're targeting innocent people to draw me out, I have to ask . . . Is it possible to reap a god?

I'm Hailey Bradbury: hedge witch and vampire. My sire was staked moments after I was turned. As a youngling, the Voodoo Queen took me in. She taught me her art. There's power in dragon blood.... It's also delicious! No one really knows what to do when a dragon shows up in town. I called the exterminator. He hung up on me. I guess it's up to me to take these monsters on.... I have to use their magic against them. It's the only way I can stop them. Only now that I've had a taste of dragon blood, I can't get enough. Tapping into such a force comes with a cost. It's changing my heart. So many urges. So many desires. I still can't believe what I've done. I'm not only losing myself. I'm losing him.

We were the terrors of New Orleans...and humanity's only hope. We called ourselves the "weird sisters". Two vampires and a rematerialized ghost. We thought we’d vanquished Asmodeus. But, he's back. He found a new host. And, now he wants to work with us? But, after all I lost because of him, I was more inclined to blast his demonic ass back to hell than accept his help.

If only I could access the infernal power Edwin brought with him when he bound himself to me in hell…there is one item that might allow me to tap into that power: a flambeaux once made by the Witch of Endor. Unfortunately, the infernal object is guarded by Cajun werewolves and the nasty ghost of a voodoo priestess.

I’m returning to the Vilokan Asylum of the Magically and Mentally Deranged…not to get treated…but perhaps Doctor Cain can help. The world’s original werewolf…and its first murderer. If anyone can help me get a handle on an undesirable shape-shifting situation…it’s him. But there is a coven of bat-shifting vampires with other plans. Surely their appearance and my…acquisition of this ability…isn’t a coincidence. And I can’t help but wonder…am I the one hunting them? Or have the tables turned?

For the first time, one of my spells backfired. I was trying to trap a sorcerer in a blood prism.... He was too powerful. It was the only option. When the spell reflected back on me, I found myself somewhere else.
