I make magic dresses for a living. I'm not rich or pretty enough to wear them, but I love what I do, working out of my family's shop on Carnaby Street in London - until the fae show up. It's a straight-up kidnapping, and before I know it, I'm brought to this wintry place of cold hearts and beautiful nightmares, but that's not the worst part.

I traded in my life of magic and demon hunting for a quiet one a long time ago. So, I made a snap decision, opened a portal, and threw myself, Valerian, and Tallin through it. Totally thought that through. There's no way that decision wasn't going to come back to bite me in the butt. Only it did, because now we're stuck here, in London, where my mother used to live.

With the Eyes hamstrung as we are, I don't see light at the end of the tunnel; only more darkness. That's when the first body shows up, and everything changes.

Valoel, my half brother, is on the hunt, only this time he doesn't want to recruit me - he wants to straight up murder me. I don't have a choice. I have to kill him first. Before I can do that, I need to find the fifth stone. Without it, my chances of beating him are slashed. The only problem is, I have no idea where to start looking for it. With only a few options and very little time to figure out which is the best one, I'm going to have to count on the one person I'd rather not see again in my life to make this work.

Hunting Valoel down is my primary goal. The word on the street is he's recruiting mages to fight for his cause. I'm not sure what his cause is, but I know it's not good. Draven would have us just kill him outright and be done with it, but Valoel said he was my brother. Maybe he can tell me about my past? My parents?

With Levi, Mason, and the Eyes stretched to breaking point, I have to push one more time to try and put an end to the chaos that fell over my life the moment that book made it into my hands, but a visit from a ghost throws a spanner in the works that threatens to send me into madness before I can complete my mission.
