Publisher's summary

A chilling murder in a prestigious prep school is at the heart of this riveting new novel from acclaimed author Charlie Donlea, featuring forensic reconstructionist Rory Moore and her psychologist partner, Lane Phillips.

Inside the walls of Indiana’s elite Westmont Preparatory High School, expectations run high and rules are strictly enforced. But in the woods beyond the manicured campus and playing fields sits an abandoned boarding house that is infamous among Westmont’s students as a late-night hangout. Here, only one rule applies: don’t let your candle go out - unless you want the Man in the Mirror to find you....

One year ago, two students were killed there in a grisly slaughter. The case has since become the focus of a hit podcast, The Suicide House. Though a teacher was convicted of the murders, mysteries and questions remain. The most urgent among them is why so many students who survived that horrific night have returned to the boarding house - to kill themselves.

Rory, an expert in reconstructing cold cases, is working on The Suicide House podcast with Lane, recreating the night of the killings in order to find answers that have eluded the school, the town, and the police. But the more they learn about the troubled students, the chillingly stoic culprit, and a dangerous game gone tragically wrong, the more convinced they become that something sinister is still happening. Inside Westmont Prep, the game hasn’t ended. It thrives on secrecy and silence. And for its players, there may be no way to win - or to survive....

Different

I must say I was a little confused in the beginning, but the book got going I couldn’t stop listening. A little different than story line and I liked that.

Loved the narrator. Story was unusual. It kept my attention. I definitely want to read more by this author and this narrator.

Starts slow but ends great

I stumbled upon this author and read the book before this and really liked the characters. I’ll be honest the first few chapters I was a little lost and I didn’t understand but once I got into it a great story unfolded.

Love it!

Oh, I almost had it this time! The red herring got me again. I really like Rory and Lane and hope to see more of them, I like their dyanamic as well as on their own. This story reminded me of summer slasher movies, like Urban Legend and Scream. I might have liked it more than Some Choose Darkness but I'm not sure. It was good though, I really love this catalogue!

Love this writer!

The way the stories build upon other stories, then they all come together is brilliant. I love the “cameos” and use of previous books’ characters. There are a lot of characters but the way the writer introduces them into the story is well done and doesn’t confuse the reader, it flows.

Kept Me Guessing

Great Psychological thriller that has you guessing until the end. The author has you engaged from the beginning. Just when you think you know “who done it”, you’re thrown for a loop!

Ready for Rory Moore book 3 please

I enjoyed this novel as much as the first in the series, but the narrator not as much. Still recommend housing a credit.
Looking forward to the next book!

Perfectly Complex

This novel has the perfect amount of characters to diversify the storyline without forcing the reader to lose track of the plot. I love the first book of the series, and this one was excellent as well!
