About this listen

The invasion of Earth continues—along with worse things on the horizon.

Jason has finally gotten confirmation that Rob is alive. Now, all he has to do is ensure that Rob still has a home to return to when all is said and done. After defeating a Blighted copy of himself and growing stronger, Jason puts all his efforts into defending Earth from the eldritch monsters that seek to devour it.

Unfortunately, sometimes, humans make for the worst kinds of monsters. Jason's investigation into a series of bizarre incidents reveals horrifying experimentation that would put an ordinary mad scientist to shame. Someone is trying to harness the power of the Blight... and they don't care how many people end up suffering along the way.

Can't have that happening. Jason and his newly assembled team of misfits refuse to let Earth turn into a madman's personal playground. They're more than happy to introduce some humanity to the good doctor.

Preferably by ramming a sword through his face.

An Outcast in Another World is a LitRPG adventure series with elements of fantasy, isekai, progression, and weak-to-strong. Jason's side story focuses on the world that Rob left behind after being isekai'd. Fight scenes are high-octane duels that involve creative decision-making on Jason's part.

Entertaining

This was a cool story and a good addition to the over all story and links with the main story line… I do wish these were longer but good story..

really enjoy the counter universe story

Book two of the world he left behind continues to hold its own as a solid storyline. Jason is an really interesting character and his interaction with the blight incursion against the backdrop of the military trying to manage leveling monsters is really done well. Highly recommended!

I want more

I enjoy learning what is happening with Jason and am looking forward to when he and Rob can kick ass together. The next book can't come fast enough.

This is a fun Jason Side Quest

So, back on Earth Jason is a one-man Blight terminator who, along the way, befriends humans who have been possessed by these ne'er-do-wells. The major antagonist is a mad scientist who intentionally kills and infects human with abandon. The book is very entertaining but jumps-the-shark with the infinity angle along with Jason's OP capabilities.

Still, it was interesting and leaves open the question on whether Jason and Rob may eventually meet up again.

... and Neil Hellegers' performance, seriously! you have to wonder? Nails it!

Power scaling seems off

First off, the performance is great. The narration is A+ and the voicing of the "corrupted" parts of the book makes it clear what's going on, a real improvement from the early parts of the series.

However, personally I don't like that Jason just has everything come easy to him. Like, I get that that was the whole thing with Rob, that Jason was just better than him at everything but he was nice so they stayed friends. That was a great setup for introducing Rob's character and why he acted the way he does.

If Jason is going to be an actual character like this in the story though, it really diminishes Rob's character. We have followed him through four books as he struggles and tries to get people to work with him, tries to help them improve, etc meanwhile Jason just rockets past him in a world without any of the benefits that Rob has.

The first Jason side story I thought was setting up Rob to come back and see that Jason was finally not as good at something as he was, but it looks like... nope this is something Jason is just naturally awesome at as well. But somehow it's even worse, because Rob is at least in a place where he should be getting better faster, but Jason just cheat codes it or whatever.

One of the best in the series!

This series is aging well! I really enjoyed the humor, performance, and storyline. The characters are well developed, as are the relationships they have with each other.

left me wanting more

at times it felt rushed and I wish it was as long as its counterparts, I understand it was a side story but it could have easily been a second story running parallel to the other

I love this book it is a greate story
but I listened to this book before book 5 and this book takes place after this book and some of the plot points do t make sense if you haven't listened to book 5 first
