About this listen

The key to finding the one responsible for the attack on Terndahl involves crossing the waste, but is Tolan willing to risk the tenuous peace they've achieved for revenge?

Now a master shaper, Tolan must serve the Academy, but he understands the risk his mother poses. While others want to study the power out on the waste, Tolan sees the need to look beyond Terndahl. His mother remains at large, and they still don’t know her ultimate goal.

When a chance encounter while traveling with the Draasin Lord reveals something unexpected, Tolan realizes he must expedite the plan to explore beyond the waste. What he finds there changes everything he knows about the elements - and the elementals.

great series

perhaps I was distracted but the ending seemed very abrupt. I'll listen to it again but a bit anticlimactic

wanting more

Can't wait for this world to continue, I'm totally engrossed in the series. I even tried to split it up so I wouldn't burn out but I couldn't pull myself away.

It’s a great story but authors repeating mantras grate!!

One you get past the going in circles and repeating mantras the story is great. I must confess I had a hard staying with it at times but in the end it’s worth it.

Good listen..

Loved the book. The ending left me wanting more. The main characters doubts his abilities all the time, almost frustratingly. But even then he does come through. Ala in all good book! I would definitely recommend it.

Still really like the story, but very restorative

This author always has a really good story with interesting themes and pretty good characters if not constantly unsure of themselves, makes them a bit annoying, but usually they turn out fine. I've listened to a couple different series and read reviews from others he's done. It seems like this is his schtick. His other thing that is classic fit his writing is that it's super repetitive to the point of almost making it difficult to listen to. Overall, while I think he could have made the story here a bit deeper and then made another book for the resolution, I like the ending in general.

An Amazing Series

Honestly one of the best fantasy series I've ever read/listened to. I highly recommend it for those who love to delve into a new universe and observe how a writer brings it and the characters to life. I look forward to seeing if D.K. Holmberg decides to create a new story set in this universe. For now, I'll be moving on to another one of his series. Thank you to John Pirhalla as well. His narration made this even more fun to listen to as he masterfully aided in bringing the characters to life.

10/10 would read/listen to this series again and highly recommend it.

Never Changes

If you want to read an entire series full of a main character Whoes only real skill is self doubt nsd personal loathing, then this is the book for you. The protagonist of this books only continues to live because the writer makes it so. This character is mediocrity at its finest, the only thing special about the character is that for some unexplained reason he gets continually lucky and just magically stumbles upon realizations just in the nick of time.....

Honest Review, Rant, Don't read inless you finished the book.

This book is a great Skeleton. In the beginning, the book gets you really interested in the world builds its self really well. The it kinda falls off. It's like the other doesn't want the MC to investigate stuff, get stronger, build relationships. How many dates did MC go on with Farah? MC forgets about both his best friends. The MC doesnt follow the academy rules at all but wont tell his best friend how to pass and Droan gets his family or teacher to tell him everything and what's going on with the Soldiers. Theirs Obviously another power system at play but the book never goes into it. The there's the ending with the mother and grandmother. There's a ton of plot holes here. MC learn to search for Bondars but can Sense it on the Main Bad guy. The book never brings up anything sexual at all then the mom dies because she's Horny. Shes supposed to be this badass, with her planing and Spirits magic and the grandmother and MC. scanned her mind multiple times but never found the memories? The lastly the MC is very good at finding alternate ways to Shape but is allergic to making himself stronger. The MC made a bond with 1 elemental and a second at the end but for a guy who goes around saying he needs to be stronger and never bonding with the other elementals also what happened to Chaos? I apologize to anyone who reads this I'm typing it on my phone.
