About this listen

From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author Meghan Quinn, and narrated in duet by Erin Mallon and Connor Crais with a full cast including Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton, JF Harding, and Kelsey Navarro, comes a new roommates to lovers, standalone sports romance featuring the hockey men you can’t get enough of. This steamy, one bed romantic comedy will bring all the laughs while making your cheeks blush at the same time. Sometimes the quietest are the most . . . vocal . . .

Word to the wise, never become roommates with a girl you’ve been pining over for the better part of a year.

You're probably wondering why I would do such a thing? Well, I didn’t.

It was my teammates.

The moment they found out Blakely White was single, they took it upon themselves to play cupid and instruct me on how I should win her over.

Don't wear a shirt around her.

Make her dinner.

Lightly touch her shoulder when you say goodbye.

I'm so flustered, so overwhelmed, so madly in love with this woman who barely notices me, that I lose control of the situation and make one huge mistake: I offer to be her fake date for a wedding so she can make her ex jealous.

That means, for one whole night I get a free pass with her. I get to hold her, dance with her, kiss her…stare at her from across the room like she’s my entire world because she has been for months now.

But when the night comes to an end, I’m faced with two options: bring her back to my bedroom and show her how I really feel, or let her walk away, succumbing to the fact that I very well might not be her type.

This hockey rom-com is SO my type! 5+ stars!

I'm doing it. I'm going to play favorites. I know I shouldn't but I can't help myself because Halsey Holmes took a hold of my heart and refuses to give it back. He's Not My Type may be the title of the fourth novel in Meghan Quinn's Vancouver Agitators hockey romance series, but this book, these main characters—heck, the entire recurring cast—and their story are totally my type! Halsey is part of a close-knit group of friends who all happen to be part of the same professional hockey team. His best buds are Pacey Lawes (Kiss and Don't Tell), Eli Hornsby (Those Three Little Words), Silas Taters (Right Man, Right Time), and Levi Posey (book still to come, and I have a feeling his is going to be a doozy!). Halsey's the guy whose life changed after his twin brother, Holden, tragically passed away. He isn't looking for love, and he's not even really searching for a good time with anyone. And then he meets Blakely White, who works for the team's VIP relations and marketing department. He's immediately smitten, but she's got a long-term boyfriend she loves. So, Halsey nurses his crush for a year, and has no intention of ever doing anything about it considering the circumstances. Then those circumstances change, and all it takes is a bit of well-meaning, hilariously boundary-crossing matchmaking from some puck-slinging pals to get things going.

To paraphrase Halsey the singer's lyric from her song "Ghost", what happened to the soul that Halsey the hockey player used to have? Welp, that soul of his came back to life thanks to Blakely, and goodness, but how the romance between these two gave me life! Add to that the friendship group that is Halsey, Pacey, Eli, Silas, and Posey—with special mention to Rivers in the previous books and OC in this new one—because while a lot of the romance series I've read have female friend groups, having as close a friendship as these men have with one another is more of a rarity. The humor, heart, and heat are ever-present—and I'm talking scorching on that last one, people!—but there's a heaviness to the story, and I mean that in a good way. There was angst courtesy of family issues on Halsey's end, but this guy has one heck of a support system, thanks to his girl and his guys. And if you've never been privy to the vocal stylings of the legendary Erin Mallon and the always impressive Connor Crais, then you're in for a treat because these two do justice to Meghan Quinn's stupendous story. Five-plus stars for He's Not My Type. I highly recommend you check out this book, the Vancouver Agitators series, and any stories yet to come!

Finally Halsey’s book

This was one of the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. Such a talented multi-cast of some of my favorite narrators. I absolutely loved it!

Fun, hilarious and a great cast

When it comes to Meghan Quinn and her romantic comedies, I've become quite consistent in saying that her books are made for audio. They truly are. The characters, the writing, the narrators. All perfectly casted and written. And with He's Not My Type, the 4th standalone book in the Agitators series, we get a full cast of characters narrating this slow burn, roommates to lovers, sports romance that proves the quiet and awkward man is anything but.

While this is a standalone book within a series, we've met Halsey Holmes in previous books. He's been on the outskirts of every story, but has definitely piqued my interest. This quiet, subdued man that is always with a book longs for a woman that is taken. A man with a book has my attention and if he's part of this Agitators Hockey team, you know that his family is the one on the ice. And they are quirky, fun, hilarious, but most of all supportive of one another.
Blakely meanwhile has been the woman that has always had a boyfriend and seemed content with her life. The moment she showed up as Penny's friend and part of the Agitators VIP marketing relations team, Halsey fell for the gorgeous woman and wanted to shoot his shot. But as soon as the word boyfriend falls from her lips, Halsey knows that Blakely can only be his crush.

Knowing the history of Halsey and how he has felt for Blakely for so long made me anxious for this story right from the start. But when we have the Agitators pushing the story forward, you know it's going to be both steamy and hilarious. I loved that his teammates dropped everything the minute they found out that Blakely was a single woman and made something happen between Halsey and Blakely. Even if it was based on untruths, we manage to start this crazy insane journey to an HEA with a roommates to lovers situation and the whole cast had me in stitches laughing so hard at their antics and suggestions on what Halsey needed to do to get closer to Blakely. And once Penny got to be a part of the situation? Over the top, laugh out loud, funny. The group text chats are hilarious!! Especially when we get to hear it with each individual narrator. Perfection!

But this wasn't only about the funny. Because these two MCs got close. They became friends and opened up to one another about pieces of their lives that they didn't share with others. Every time Halsey thought he was getting closer to Blakely, she thought they were "just friends" or he was "like a brother" to her. How was Halsey going to make Blakely see him in another light when he was too quiet and kept taking his friends' advice? How about a fake date/fake relationship while attending a wedding?? Let's just say this goes over way too well and we get to see how Mr Halsey Holmes is not so quiet and innocent. And Blakely takes full advantage of this over and over and over again. The woman was "c0ck-$h0ck3d" and I loved it.

Meghan Quinn did a great job of incorporating past characters and giving us some great comedic scenes, but also developing a relationship between two people that started out sweet and moved to dirty talking goodness. I also loved the whole team and how they came together for Halsey during his darkest moments. Because while Ms Quinn knows comedy, she knows when to twist us up with a few tears in the midst of everything. I knew I was going to love Halsey's story, but I didn't know how much and how it was all going to play out. I just loved that man and how open he was to everything. Literally everything! That man was quiet, but knew when to be alpha and in charge. It was extremely sexy and very liberating for Blakely.

I could live in this world forever with all the amazing characters and narrators we've gotten so far. Great performances. I am so excited to get Posey's story. As long as we keep getting nods to past characters and this amazing hockey team and their partners, I will be ready to laugh and enjoy the journey each character has to their HEA.

Loved this book!!!!

This book made me laugh out loud and cry! What a great book!
Meghan Quinn might be my favorite author. She knows how to go deep but also keep it light enough to giggle throughout the book.
This was my favorite story of the Agitator boys!

Halsey gets his girl!

I feel in love with this hockey team in book 1 and I was waiting impatiently for the quiet, bookworm Halsey to get his story. He carries a world of hurt in his heart from the tragic loss of his twin and subsequent estrangement from his family. He's also carrying a monumental torch for Blakely White. He's never acted on it. She works for the Agitators and she has a boyfriend. He also made the gigantic mistake of confessing his crush to his teammates and when Blakely breaks up with her boyfriend, it becomes their mission to make her notice Halsey - including forcing him to offer her a place to stay. His place. As expected, hilarity ensues. Living together brings some intimacy and when Halsey decides to be Blakely's date for a wedding her former fiancé will attend, things finally heat up!

I knew this audiobook was going to be phenomenal just for the cast alone. Narrated duet style by the incomparable Erin Mallon as Blakely and the immensely talented Connor Crais and Halsey, you just can't press pause once you start. They'll make you laugh, blush and get teary-eyed. They do all this with the help off a dream team of a supporting cast: Kelsey Navarro Foster, Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton and J.F Harding appear as Penny and as the other Agitators.

It was an absolute joy getting to see band them together to support Halsey, giving him love, being the family he craves and helping him get the girl off his dreams. The text convos are LMAO worthy. If you've met the Agitators before, you know they're a fun and loyal bunch (Frozen Fellas!) who's become a big family.

And no third act break up! Phew!

All the stars!

Stunned.

Funny, sexy, and gut wrenching. How can a hockey trope have it all? The book was fabulous but the audible truly brought it to life! Spectacular performances.
