Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Eight years ago I fell into a secret summer fling with my best friend’s little sister before our lives went in different directions. Now, I’m the grumpy to Juliet’s sunshine on a popular dating podcast we host, and when a wealthy fan gives us a charming coastal cottage as the biggest thank you ever, we head to the town where I grew up to give it a makeover. Gabriel Ferrara is tall and handsome, and most days she wants to stab her eyes out with a pencil, anything to stop her seeing his perfection. How any female could work in these conditions and not be completely besotted with him is beyond her. Then he opens his mouth and she remembers why. He's bossy and sarcastic, with a wit so sharp it could cut glass. Every weekend is the same . . . while he's off living his dream life, she's counting down the days until Monday when she sees him again.

While the revenge taken is not fully or graphically detailed, it is extreme. “He had certainly formed such a plan, and without meaning that it should effect his endeavour to separate him from Miss Bennet, it is probable that it might add something to his lively concern for the welfare of his friend.” Pride & Prejudice, chapter 45 This vagary proposes an alternate path for the characters of Pride and Prejudice. This novel of 67,000 words is a sweet and clean variation of Pride and Prejudice written from a Christian perspective. The characters meet as children and grow in understanding of themselves and each other over the period of Elizabeth at age five until her marriage. There are no super-villains to wreak havoc on our heroes or heroines in this low-angst retelling. Except: Summer 1796 - On a mild summer day in Hertfordshire, Lady Anne Darcy sat in the shade of the terrace overlooking the generous expanse of manicured lawn behind their leased estate. Netherfield Park was an agreeable location ...

Story
What if there were no entail? When Mr. Bennet dies, the Bennet ladies are given a new home at their Uncle Gardiner’s estate, Netherfield Park. When Mr. Bingley looks to lease an estate close to London, Longbourn seems the perfect solution. And he brings with him his best friend Fitzwilliam Darcy, along with Miss Bingley, Mr. and Mrs. Hurst, retired Col. Fitzwilliam, and the longtime mentor of Darcy and Fitzwilliam, Mr. Wickham. Lady Anne Darcy, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, and other family members plot against our favorite couple. Will they succeed in their efforts to compromise Miss Darcy?

it was a pretty interesting story
I wasn't sure if I could take the virtual voice. but I just thought of it as somebody who didn't have very much talent reading. so it worked for me. however I really don't understand why they couldn't make it a British voice. I don't understand why so many words were mispronounced. I mean, really they could say mama and papa correctly. French Style English Style. and there are lots of just common English words that were mispronounced

I dislike this Elizabeth
Elizabeth is mean spirited, opinionated, arrogant and I thoroughly disliked her. I can’t imagine why Darcy loved her and the whole story was about how he tried to win her love. He really should’ve dumped her and found someone more deserving. Actually none of the characters were presented very well. They were all flat.

Story drags. Read or listen to if you need a nap.
Don’t waste your time. This story unnecessarily drags on for longer than necessary.
Virtual voice does not help, but makes it worse.
