TWISTING ROLLER COASTER

I know I was was aware that this was narrated by virtual voice. I absolutely loved the story when I read it and it had been too long since I had experienced it. I just wanted to hear it read to me.

Jeffers always does a highly admirable job of researching her subjects when she writes and Losing Lizzy came out she published some of the true history behind the islands that appeared in this story. Way more frightening than the very scary scenes in this story already. I think you can still find the history on her website or Google it. Those are real places. Yikes.

This was a sad tale from the beginning and caught my attention immediately. Darcy kidnapped and kept aboard a pirate ship. On the eve of his wedding. Lizzy left at the altar and with child.

Remember Lady Catherine saying ‘I shall know how to act,’ after her ‘coercive comments before Darcy proposes again, out in the pretty little wilderness?’ Yeah, she knew how to act. What a viper.

Darcy’s valet takes it upon himself to take care of Elizabeth in Darcy’s stead since she’s suffering scandal and Darcy’s family is still breathing down her neck. He approaches Mr Bennet with a plan to save her by hiding her under a different name and let no one know where she is. Elizabeth gives birth to a daughter, who is the apple of the older valet’s eye and a visible piece of Darcy she has left from him. Four years later they believe he’s dead.

But Darcy escapes and returns to England. He has a search ahead of him to find Lizzy. But he’s our Hero and of course he does.

Then the three year old Lizzy is kidnapped. This where the story truly turns to adventure and a frantic race of pursuit ensues. It goes from dark to heinous in a matter of moments. The rescue is just heart in the throat action.
Heartbreaking and heartwarming. Highly recommended.

I don’t want to spoil the story for someone who will pick this up to listen to. Please don’t judge the story by the narration and consider reading the excellent book.

I absolutely loved this story! I couldn’t stop! It stole my heart from the beginning with heart ache then turned to love and admiration of the storyline. I’m going to read this one annually !

Heartbreak and love struck ! Lizzy Ann is the sweetest gift for P&P readers

A top 5 P&P variation, and I’ve listened to at least 60. The plot line is fresh and just so well written. Elizabeth and Darcy are just a few days before their wedding and they get together intimately - which would have been “fine” if not for the fact that Darcy is a no show for the wedding. He’s disappeared.

Here’s what’s crazy. Back in the P&P days (early 1800’s) a bride getting jilted at the alter was enough to ruin her and her family.

And well. The fact that Elizabeth and Darcy had been intimate, well. That adds a layer of complications.

How the author navigates all of this into a wonderful novel is just brilliant. As a reader/listener, I was engaged and engrossed the entire time. I binged this book, it was that good.

I gave the performance 2 stars because it’s an AI voice and not a real voice actor. It was “fine” listening and didn’t detract from the novel, except in good conscience, how can we rank an AI voice?

Must listen P&P Variation

I loved this story but the virtual voice made it hard to keep track of who was saying what since the voice never changed. Please get real voice actors!!!!! Virtual voice does not do these stories justice!!

Great twist on a classic

The story reminds me a little of the Count of Monte Christo…loved the twist and turns the only thing I didn’t like was the computer animated voice.

Darcy is kidnapped and gone for about 4 years. Prior to being kidnapped, Darcy and Elizabeth anticipated their vows. After Darcy disappears before their wedding, Elizabeth finds out that she is pregnant. When the reconnect, Darcy sets out to get revenge on those who betrayed him, and to get to know his daughter.

This Lizzy is Elizabeth's daughter

Brilliant writing, delved into our reg Characters w/ a flourish of enormous new Wisdom…..Struggles & Greed surrounds the realistic savage pain. Honor, love & purserverence actually prevail…Darcy’s Back Scars finished me…

This is my favorite Regina Jeffers P&P variation. Even the Virtual Voice narration cannot dim the fast moving story with dual paths of revenge and redemption for ODC and their loved ones. This Darcy returns a strong, determined, driven man after four years a victim of treachery. Elizabeth has been hidden from society as a woman abandoned at the alter. While he leaves no stone unturned to find her again, plenty of emotion is generated by this plot, and it’s a wild ride to the rescue that wraps the story up nicely. A clean, tidy story for the dedicated fan. It is my favorite Regina Jeffers P&P variation for many reasons. Darcy shows his strength and devotion. Elizabeth shows hers. The treachery and cruelty are family born. The victory complete. And it’s in the Plus Catalogue.

Darcy won’t accept Losing Lizzy and her Mama, too!
