Set in the medieval-like world of Kimbria, this is the story of the adventures and sweet romances of three brothers who are the youngest sons of King Ansgar of Kimbria and his indigenous consort Keholani, High Chief of the Kimbrii people, from the epic fantasy novel Ansgar: The Struggle of a People. The Triumph of the Heart. (Part I of the Windflower Saga trilogy).
Kapa'a, Bogumil, and Koritane were only fourteen, twelve, and nine when their father died in a tragic accident, leaving them to enter youth and young manhood under the guidance of their mother and the good monks of Longridge Monastery, where they attended boarding school until they came of age and prepared to embark on their chosen occupation and start a family. The three brothers choose very different paths. For Kapa'a, deep grief spurs him to leave his homeland altogether and join a band of monks who are travelling about the region on a construction project. For Bogumil, his plans to remain in Kimbria and enter his grandfather’s law practice are turned upside down when he’s sent to another kingdom and married to a stranger in response to a plea for help. For Koritane, a broken heart spurs him to leave Kimbria and work in another kingdom while developing his interest in equine veterinary science. A builder, a lawyer., and a vet will all find ways to honor the example of their father’s life while finding happiness in their own. While this builds on characters in Ansgar, it is written to stand alone. However, fans of the Windflower Saga will enjoy the glimpses it gives them into the lives of characters in the novel.
