About this listen

What does a problem-solver do when some wrong turns in his life land him at rock bottom and he needs a hard reboot? When Dean Valentine (Val) receives a sentient grimoire, he believes he has found his solution in magic.

Val is ready to begin a new life on Ravætta as a wizard, but soon learns that magic comes at a price. Wizards are being killed, and it is up to him to save everyone. Unfortunately, not everyone wants magic to be saved. As word spreads of his arrival, enemies crop up all around him: thieves, assassins, monsters, and even gods.

To prove himself to be the hero that Ravætta needs, Val must master magic, uncover secrets, and defeat enemies before time runs out. It is not just his own life on the line.

Why is the world so woke?

I started out really enjoying this book, but the author needed to bring some unnecessary gender reveals into the story. I'm sorry, but I don't need your delusions in my head.

Perfect to keep you awake on a long road trip

I left my house headed from central Georgia to central Michigan to pick up my son…. As I left I hit play on THE LAST WIZARD….I paused it only when I stopped and when approaching heavy interstate exchanges ….I drove there and back and as I pulled off of the interstate into my home town in George…. The book completed…… I didn’t fall asleep driving because this book kept me riveted…..the trip took me 30 hours …. Only 5 were spent sleeping and the extra was gas and bathroom breaks…. GREAT LISTEN!

Great story

Narration was a but stiff not so much that it was unbeatable but bit flat and without emotion.

A fun Isekai journey that had me laughing!

Rain Oxford has a hilarious sense of humor and The Last Wizard showcases this! This book is a hilarious Isekai that had me laughing at every turn. The MC is just likable enough, the world is fun to be in, and the adventure keeps up till the end. Audio Version: This is my first time listening to anything narrated by Randolf Rebrick and he did a great job. 23+ hours of hilarious audio!

Great listen

I would definitely recommend. The story pace is great neither too slow or fast. Plot is very much on point.

Fun and engrossing

This book was a bit hard to get into for me. mostly due to becoming accustomed to the narrator. Though after a bit I loved every second.

Excellent Magical Adventure

Parents: R - not appropriate for under 18.
Language: G, swears in French
Violence: PG13- combat with magic and medieval weapons, Krav Maga, battling monsters
Sexual content: R- infidelity, boobs, panties, seductive actions, invitations for sex, lady jungle, naked body

The main character is unique to say the least, awkward to a fault, and embodies Geek to a T. An enjoyable reading experience with good pacing and a lot of adventure. A unique approach to magic, worlds, and mythology. If the description is intriguing to you definitely give this a go!

Narrator: Did a great job but some of the differentiations could have been better, and had decent effects.

Fun story with thousands of jokes

This audiobook has more jokes than any other audiobook I have. Now, they aren't great jokes, but they aren't bad either, and not raunchy or rude. The main character tries to be pleasant and friendly to everyone.

Fairly standard fantasy world. A magic book on Earth bring a guy having a hard day there, and hilarity immediately ensues.
His dog, after biting him: "That was a thank you bite!"
Him, after slapping the dog: "That was a thank you slap!"

Recommended.

The Last Wizard

One of the best listens I've heard in quite some time. Sassy and relatable characters that are well built. The storyline is amazing and kept me engaged from the beginning. I recommend this author and the narrator.
