About this listen
Since his arrival in Talohna, Kael Symes has experienced some of the worst that it has to offer. However, when he wakes from a frightening coma, he finds that Talohna’s magic may be permanently broken, and a dire new threat is situated on Solikyr’s doorstep....
With a terrifying and powerful faction so close to his new home, Kael does everything he can to shore up the unstable alliance brokered by Ember and Max before their departure for the World Peace Summit. However, Treach’s unannounced arrival at Solikyr Castle during his search for Niis’ final resting place and a shocking revelation from the summit force Kael and his new apprentice to search for a way to get to Corynth before disaster strikes.
Forced to travel part of the way overland, Kael, Kenna and Sephi stumble across what appears to be a Ri’Tek invasion of Stillwater in Northern Cethos. Though seriously outnumbered and helpless to stop the invasion, Kael and Sephi do manage to help an important witness escape the fighting before pushing on to Corynth.
Protected by the summit’s diplomatic immunity laws, Kael joins Ember and Max in a desperate bid to expose the Ri’Tek for who they truly are, but even the testimony of a high-standing witness may not be enough to sway the World Council to act, leaving Queen Bale no choice but to finally respond to the Ri’Tek on her own. But faced with the invasion, will the stubborn Cethosian queen actually send her troops to war, or will the insurmountable odds finally force Cethos to its knees? With the Ri’Tek firmly entrenched in Stillwater and war looming on the horizon, the Vikress' plan quickly comes to light, forcing events down a nightmare path no one could have ever imagined...a path that may lead to Talohna's long forgotten past and a long forgotten goddess.

Story
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

Eric didn't ask to be a vampire. In fact he didn't even believe in them. Biting your own tongue with your fangs does a lot of convincing. Even so, being a part-time undead isn't as easy as you might think. It can let you hold down a day job, true, but sometimes the night "life" can be more than a little difficult, what with those bloodthirsty urges and predatory instincts kicking in.

The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

Story
Kihrin is a bastard orphan who grew up on storybook tales of long-lost princes and grand quests. When he is claimed against his will as the long-lost son of a treasonous prince, Kihrin finds that being a long-lost prince isn't what the storybooks promised. He also discovers that the storybooks have lied about a lot of other things, too: dragons, demons, gods, prophecies, true love, and how the hero always wins. Then again, maybe he’s not the hero, for Kihrin is not destined to save the empire. He’s destined to destroy it.

Story
Long ago the gods chose a great hero to act as their agent in the mortal world and to stand against the demonic spawn of Chaos. The gods gifted their champion, Daemron, with three magical Talismans: a sword, a ring, and a crown. But the awesome power at his command corrupted Daemron, turning him from savior to destroyer. Filled with pride, he dared to challenge the gods themselves. Siding with the Chaos spawn, Daemron waged a titanic battle against the Immortals. In the end, Daemron was defeated, the Talismans were lost, and Chaos was sealed off behind the Legacy - a magical barrier the gods sacrificed themselves to create.

Really good read
When I started the series I wasn’t sure with how the story jumped back and forth. But as I continued the story pulled me in hook line and sinker. Franx world building is top notch. And damn does he know how to leave you on the edge of a cliff. So can’t wait for the next book!!!

Best book in the series yet!
This book serves as proof, that JD Franx only continues to grow as not only an author, but even as a story teller. This has been my favorite of the series thus far, and I can only imagine how much better future installments will get! A MUST READ!
