About this listen

Can a Haughty Earl Find Love in the Country?
When a handsome gentleman driving his curricle much too fast splashes a country girl with mud, he's not expecting to find the love of his life.
She's affronted by his haughty demeanor but can't help being attracted to him. She is manipulated into accepting his proposal, though he's not altogether straightfoward with her.
Then a long-kept secret threatens their happiness. Whoever said the course of true love ne'er did run smooth was definitely speaking about this couple!
Though it can be read as a stand-alone novel, The Earl and the Mud-Covered Maiden is the first book in the House of Hale Trilogy. It introduces characters you will love to follow as they set out on their rocky path together.

A wonderful tale.

I’m not usually a fan of virtual voice, but it oddly worked for this book. The book itself is well-crafted and well written. It reminds me of a fairy tale. Soothing, but with a point. Can’t wait for the next in this series. Thank you, dear authoress!

Lovely old-fashioned romance

Well-written, interesting, clean regency romance. I really like this author, and was happy to see this become an audiobook. This is the type of book I very much enjoy listening to.

Enjoyable Regency but don’t care for Virtual Voice

I liked this Regency Romance from a favorite author, but I don’t care for the Virtual Voice narration. Even though the author is not a professional reader and her recordings have some little glitches, I much prefer her narration. As always, learned something new.

It’s okay

Really like the author but not this book. It’s a simple, linear story based on a premise of the MC finding the FC attractive and different than other missish girls, though we don’t get to hear much about those differences because there isn’t much character development. As usual the author has a nice crisp writing style, which sets her above the crowd. However, I was taken aback by the unexpected focus on the FC’s breasts by her love interest. That was eye rolling and off-putting. Then, in the latter half, I did not need to hear how Nanny Prim referred to a specific body part of the male child she had raised. Ick. Surprisingly, the AI narration wasn’t too bad, except for the handful of mispronunciations. Glad I only paid a few bucks for this, but was disappointed nonetheless,
