About this listen

Tango and TJ have been best friends since forever, until the night all that changes. Suddenly Tango is on her own. Without TJ, she's unsure how to be or who she is. To make things worse, she is convinced that TJ is still around. Is she imagining this, or are ghosts actually a thing?

When she meets Nate, the darkness inside her begins to lift, and the hole in her heart gets a little smaller. Nate is someone who understands her. He's been where she is, and he knows how to fix things. But there is a difference between healing and hiding, and after a while, Tango isn't sure if Nate's way of coping with grief is the right way for her.

When she meets 13-year-old Vivian, suddenly everything she thought she knew about the boy she loves is put to the test. But has Tango gone too far into the darkness, or will she manage to find her way back to herself?

Tangofish--a story of life after loss.

Heartfelt and heart-wrenching

Tangofish, a coming-of-age tale of a high school senior unable to deal with death of her best friend, is deftly and sensitively written by Carol Anne Shaw with sweet, heartfelt narration by Kaitlyn Piatti who immediately draws the listener into Tango’s world. Shaw draws a complex character in Tango who navigates a maze of darker and unpleasant things as the love of caring family and supportive friends guide her to a place of strength and self-awareness.

Tango Fish for the win!

This book was AMAZING!!! A wonderful coming-of-age story about a teenager dealing with grief and young love. This story not only pulled on my heartstrings but kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next and if my assumptions were correct. In addition to the great story telling, the narration was also amazing and perfect for this book. I HIGHLY recommend this read!

5⭐️ YA gem with heavy topics and an undertone of hope

This is the story of a high school senior navigating grief while trying to find her own path. I chose to listen to this with my teenage son, and I’m so glad that I did. It opened up opportunities for us to discuss important topics: sex, drugs, addiction, consent, self-harm, communication, relationships and dating, grief, underage drinking, peer pressure, and teenage love. We both loved the book and look foreword to reading more by this author. Beautiful writing. We could both envision this as a movie!

Deep

I wasn't sure I would like it. It is a deep subject matter. But it was well written and performed. And it realistically portrays what teeens may be going through in their heads at the loss of a friend.

Life after Loss

Tangofish is a very deep but sensitive written book about a young teenage girl's (Tango) journey from grief to being herself again. The story is heartwretching because it has to deal with a life taken to soon and the aftermath of those left behind to pick up the pieces of their lives. Tango must go through many stages to pull herself back together, and some are not so good when she mixes with the wrong crowd. I will not give any spoilers, but this is a must-read/listen for anyone who has children or is around children because it is thought-provoking and educational.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though the subject was hard to get through. I understand what it's like to lose a high-school best friend to death. Kaitlyn Piatti did a phenomenal job bring the characters emotions and personsonalites to life. I received this book for free upon my request. I am leaving my unbiased, honest review here of my own free will.
