About this listen

For quiet, reserved, and focused 15-year-old Annie Mackey, school was a sanctuary. But when her bubbly and beautiful neighborhood best friend joins her at Willow Point High for freshmen year, her world is turned upside down.

Everything Annie could count on for stability is shattered, and she's left feeling more alone than ever before. Just when she's about to lose all hope, someone unexpected swoops in and gives her a much-needed lesson in perspective.

Well done.

YA novels featuring heartbreaking home lives and mean girl bullies are hard for me, but this one was well written by Jody Hodges and beautifully performed by Jessica Renee Ryan. I will definitely recommend this, especially to my YA reading students!

Reminder of what it’s like to be young again

It took a couple of chapters for me to be able to fully immerse myself in this book. I have long forgotten what it is like to be a high schooler, wrapped up in school and boys. There were so many times I had a smile plastered to my face while reading. It made me thing of my high school sweetheart and the shenanigans we found ourselves in. It also made me think about how the events that happen as a parent can really affect our kids. As a parent myself now, I realized that our kids are so in tune with us and it really made me want to be more present for my own child as she grows into her teenage years. I don't want to be that parent that is never around because of work, etc. Yeah, Maybe was a refreshing read that you won't want to put down. There were scenes that made me cry and many scenes that made me laugh. But most of all, it reminded me of what it was like to be young. And that is priceless.

Wonderfully written YA novel

I have both read and now listened to this story. It is a wonderfully written story about high school life and friendships. Great for your teens but as an almost 40 year old it is still a great story, brings me back to high school and all that came with it. Beautiful story telling!

A Wonderful Visit Back to High School

This is a really great read that immediately captures the good, bad, and ugly parts of being a teenager. The dialogue was believable, the characters relatable, and the story fast-paced and interesting. I thought the narrator, Jessica Renee Ryan, did a fantastic job and I'll definitely be watching for her upcoming audiobook projects.
Five stars.
