Story
Is bourbon the quintessential American liquor? Bourbon is not just alcohol - the amber-colored drink is deeply ingrained in American culture and tangled in American history. From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

We live in a world of seeds. From our morning toast to the cotton in our clothes, they are quite literally the stuff and staff of life, supporting diets, economies, and civilizations around the globe. Just as the search for nutmeg and the humble peppercorn drove the Age of Discovery, so did coffee beans help fuel the Enlightenment and cottonseed help spark the Industrial Revolution. And from the fall of Rome to the Arab Spring, the fate of nations continues to hinge on the seeds of a Middle Eastern grass known as wheat.

Ready for my thumb to finally turn green
Well I'm not sure if I can call myself a beginner anymore, since I've been trying to get this right for a few seasons, but this book is GREAT for beginners, including me! I have not been able to get raised bed gardening right yet, and I'm excited to put the things I learned in this book into practice in the coming 12 months. The first thing I'm going to put into practice from the book are the steps on how to create better soil for healthy plants using common ingredients. I've already got my beds, so thankfully I don't need to build those but I did like that section as well - if I actually get good at this I will be using those tips to build some more :). I'm also excited to try some of the books recommended "ideal plants" for raised beds. The narration in this book is also easy to listen to. Highly recommend!

Informative
As much as I love to garden, I find it overwhelming, however, with the focus of this book on raised bed gardening, it makes the learning process smooth.
It covers everything you need from the different types of bed gardening, the tools you need, the type of plants that are recommended and not for bed gardening and much more.
The book includes several pictures which makes it easier to follow and understand especially for someone visual like me! As I live in Canada and we have crazy long and extremely cold winter, I appreciated the chapter on how to keep my raised beds survive the winter.
Bonus** you get a pdf copy of the book with your purchase of the audiobook which is amazing!
