"Robin Marvel's Healing Childhood Trauma shares the wisdom of what her experience with the pain and trauma of life taught her. When we ask ourselves what the pain of our experience feels like, the words we use tell us what needs to be eliminated from life that will allow us to heal." (Bernie Siegel, MD, author of 365 Prescriptions for the Soul and The Art of Healing)

"Robin Marvel hits a homerun with Healing Childhood Trauma. It's not just a book for reading - it's also a workbook that helps the adult survivor of childhood trauma find a new focus and develop new understanding of themselves while embarking on a healing journey." (John Patrick McCarron, Louisiana ambassador, National Association of Adult Survivors of Child Abuse)

I liked the option to work hands on through each chapter for healing. I found the exercises and insights beneficial even after years and layers of healing.

Good insights

The challenges that shape us do NOT define us. They do not control us. They should only provide rationale for behaviors that continue to hurt us. Once you realize how your own actions are interfering with true happiness, you can begin to transform. Love yourself- your strengths and your challenges. Be kind to yourself and expect kindness from others.

There comes a time when some who have experienced Trauma are ready to move past it. This book can be that step forward. Robin doesn’t mince words or try to cushion the facts. Progress isn’t comfortable. But it is so worth it. Thank you Robin for sharing your story and encouraging others to stop being a victim in theirs.

I like that this book takes away excuses we give ourselves. I suffer from PTSD but completely agree with how we give ourselves excuses. I benefitted from the exercises in this book greatly and wish more books included exercises such as these.

I’ve never had anyone explain trauma to me before like this book did. Knowing what to do about trauma is priceless. Getting the tools to work with is life changing. I’ll listen to this book over and over for reinforcement. Thank you for writing this book. God bless you.

I put off listening to this because I was still living in a state of victim mentality blaming others for my life. What a difference this book has made on my life. I encourage everyone who has been through childhood trauma to listen do the work to heal and stop generational trauma. Blessings

I like the exercises. Some of the stories/examples were lackluster. Overall 4/5.

Great for a beginner seeking self help. Not so great for a person that has been to therapy because there’s not a lot of new information. Not very useful for therapists seeking to learn about new methods or theory.

Not for everyone but great for someone like me 😊
