Publisher's summary

With his fauxhawk, sleeve tattoos, and visible piercings, Ridley Corbin has the whole badass vibe going on in spades. The image serves him well as the self-proclaimed protector of the underdog, and he wants nothing more than to be Alex Firestone's hero.

Alex, a mild-mannered library assistant, has moved to Slater, a quiet college town, hoping to hide from his past. He keeps to himself, but that doesn't save him from catching the unwanted attention of the campus bully. But not all is as it seems. Alex's past comes calling, and it's time he becomes top dog.

A great story

Where does Bamf rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really liked it - great story

What did you like best about this story?

How Alex changed from a character that at first I didn't like, to someone caring and protective

Have you listened to any of Adam Dort’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this was my first audiobook from him - Great performance

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Don't judge someone by the appearances

Any additional comments?

I must confess that I didn't liked Alex very much in the begining of this story but yeah, he warmed up to me and I really loved this boom.. Great book!

Slow start, smooth finish

A little slow in the beginning, but once it picks up, really a rather nice story. Audio quality was a bit funky, there was a weird white noise going on that kinda freaked me out, especially noticed during chapters. The performance was great, Adam Dort was brilliant.

OMG... YES!

OH MY... SJD Peterson knocked it out of the park with this one... I absolutely loved this story from the start to the end.

There are some WICKED twists in the book that surprised me, but I sort of knew were coming, but still found them awesome.

I do wish we would've been told what the title stood for.. which I did figure out after I finished the book, but that's not a huge deal.

It's hard to say much about the book without giving away some of the twists. I loved the sexy librarian with a side of bad a**, thrown in with the man who thinks he's a bad a**, but finds he just might not be the biggest and baddest around.

Just a great book for those looking for some curves and some wild as hell, kinky a** sex. OMG.. Probably the kinkiest and roughest sex I've seen in a book yet, but it TOTALLY fit the men and TOTALLY worked.

I found at times the narrator downplayed what was going on and it made Alex not see like the man he was, but for the most part I loved it as he didn't make it over the top, which would've been easy to do as well.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Inked Rainbow Reads.

Hot story, funny, good narration

I love the cover and the title and the names of the MCs Ridley – stupid hot, right? And Alex – gorgeous!

I love the premise – underdog Alex needs “protection” by the uber-hot yet geeky Ridley only to turn around and be even more bad-ass than Iron Man!

I like the age – end of college, young but old enough not to feel YA.

All in all – practically perfect!

So how did the actual story hold up in the face of these expectations? Pretty well.

I thought it would be AMAZING.

It wasn’t.

But it was real dang good.

It started with a bang – Ridley acting cute-as-hell crushing on Alex, finally getting up the nerve to ask him out and then the two share a first date full of flirting and innuendo over a game of pool.

Then they get together.

WOW.

Not what you were expecting.

It is hot. Very hot.

Ridley ends up needing protection from Alex about midway through the book and the two end up spending some one on one time together which helps to cement their relationship. We see them go from super hot hookups to something more, and it gets a little sweet.

The action in between all this is fast-paced and holds your interest, but the bulk of the story is them and – well – them getting it on!

I give this book high marks for hitting a lot of my buttons: geeks, deceiving appearances, college, intrigue, hot chemistry.

I can’t give it perfect marks because the relationship between Alex and Ridley is not all that believable. I mean, I could see them together, but we really don’t get to see much of them actually communicating or sharing themselves in more than a physical way, so I can’t really say “I know they’ll make it:”. In fact, I don’t really “know” Alex much at all. He seems to be a weird juxtaposition between his persona and his job, and I’m not sure I fully understand either character well.

Anyhow, it’s absolutely worth reading and I can definitely recommend it!

4 of 5 stars

Audio:

Adam Dort is new to me, but he did a good job with the narration. He didn’t do a lot with Alex and Ridley’s voices, but he did add in some variation for some of the secondary characters and his female voices were not screechy like some men translate them. I thought he did the “emotional” and physical scenes well and would look for him in the future as a narrator.

4.5 of 5 stars

Overall, I’d rank the narration and book together as more a 4.5 of 5 stars and would say the listening was as good or better than the reading.

A BAMF of a story!

Would you consider the audio edition of Bamf to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the book, But I think the narration adds life to the characters and action we can't as we read.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the chemistry these men had and the twist.

What does Adam Dort bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He gives each character a voice of their own and draws out words like yeeeesss, and fuuuuu when there is sex. Just giving action to the story I can't myself.

Who was the most memorable character of Bamf and why?

I have to choose between Alex and Ridley? HMMMMM....Nope can't choose. Both are awesome.

Any additional comments?

At first I stared at this title. BAMF. White the heck does that even mean? The thought to google it never occurred to me. I decided its SJD Peterson, so its guaranteed to be hot and I haven't read an SJD book that wasn't good so I took the chance and am so glad I did. I absolutley adored Alex and Ridley. The story started out one way and I'm thinking a college boy, coming of age, sexy librarian, Alex coming to his defense etc then BAM! there was a big twist and I was in for one heck of a surprise. A very pleasant one.

The story was funny in places, the two men had so much chemistry, add in some suspense, intrigue, and don't forget the hot, very hot man-sex.

If you like very spicy MM stories, humor and lots of action, bedroom and otherwise I highly recommend this book.

Not What I Expected

Not at all what I expected, BAMF was so much more. At first I thought it would be a cute little love story between two college guys but what I got was suspense and heat. Ridley is used to being the protector until he meets Alex. Then it's Alex who is the one to protect Ridley. Fun dialogue, hot sex and an air of suspense made this a great read... or well, a great listen.

Didn't really enjoy it...

This book seems to be love it or hate it for most readers. Me? Yeah, I'm for SURE in the second category. 1 star for default plus 1 star for dirty talking... I'm being generous here.

I had so many issues with this one that I'm not quite sure where to start? The lack of character development? The telling vs showing? The sub-par audio narration? Where do I begin?!

I'll just jump right in. Was I the only one who thought that Ridley was sort of insane? And not fun insane, ACTUALLY crazy? First of all, he stalks Alex relentlessly, spending time and money that he says that Alex better appreciate to look good for him, visiting the library where he works for MONTHS with no backpack or books and pretends to read while staring at him. Did that strike anyone else as odd???? And later, when things start to fall apart (no spoilers here!), Ridley is just happy as can be to do whatever Alex says? He is also extremely underdeveloped as a character. Sure, I know he has lots of tattoos and likes rough sex, but other than a few tell-y details, I knew nothing about him. He felt like a creepy shell of a person.

Alex was only marginally better. It is hard to talk about him without giving away any plot spoilers, but I wanted to shout, "This isn't a freaking 80's movie!" It felt as contrived as one.

The sex. Well, sure it was hot. Lots of really rough sex, lots of bruising and sort of BDSM-y but less formal. But, please, can we stop with all the dry fingering? Having three fingers shoved up you completely dry has felt good for no one, ever.

The plot. Ugh. It was muy loco. I'm not a romantic suspense lover and when my hot contemporary morphed into something else, with a plot that felt thrown together, I was not a happy camper. I also never felt the love between the MCs. It was like a 80s buddy caper, with biting.

I'm also going to spend a brief moment discussing grammar and editing. When you are listening to an audiobook, sometimes grammar mistakes become more apparent. They did to me here. I'm not a grammar Nazi, but hearing "he" when "him" should have been used and adverbs/adjective errors irritated me.

Lastly, the narration. This narrator wasn't the worst I've heard but he was NOT good. He used the same exact voice for both MCs and had a very monotone way of delivering dialogue. He voice got a little "gruff" during the sex scenes but that was about it for his range of emotion. It didn't help make a book that I was already not enjoying any more enjoyable.

Another book for the "everyone else loves it shelf."
