About this listen

They don't play for the same team. Or do they?

Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wisecracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were 18? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.

Ryan Wesley's biggest regret is coaxing his very straight friend into a bet that pushed the boundaries of their relationship. Now, with their college teams set to face off at the national championship, he'll finally get a chance to apologize. But all it takes is one look at his longtime crush, and the ache is stronger than ever.

Jamie has waited a long time for answers but walks away with only more questions - can one night of sex ruin a friendship? If not, how about six more weeks of it?

When Wesley turns up to coach alongside Jamie for one more hot summer at camp, Jamie has a few things to discover about his old friend...and a big one to learn about himself.

Warning: Contains sexual situations, hotties on hockey skates, skinnydipping, shenanigans in an SUV, and proof that coming out to your family on social media is a dicey proposition.

Better than 'Something like Summer'

Reminded me of it - but oh so much better! Characters felt so real, hot sex did NOT hurt, and I found myself emotionally engaged with the characters -especially that f*cking HOT 'Wes'. Aahhh!! Did not want it to end!

All About Him and Him

A new favorite for me! This m/my romance is a story about friendship, love and, ultimately, acceptance. Jamie and Wes are well-developed characters who will easily steal your heart with thier charismatic personalities. Once camp friends, the two had a falling out and this book picks up years later when they cross paths again. And let me tell you... they are near combustible together. Friends first, and then lovers, the budding romance is so sweet.

The narration was perfection, conveying these characters' personalities and emotions. The dual narration brought the story to life. It was pure entertainment!

This was why I joined Audible

Who was your favorite character and why?

Wes and Jamie equally, I guess. I just can't see one without the other.

Any additional comments?

It was actually my reading all the positive reviews for HIM that finally gave me the push I needed to become an Audible member. I had to HEAR this book. According to the reviews it was the two narrators that set it apart from the competition... and boy were those observations spot on! I simply can't imagine getting the same satisfaction from READing the book without the complement of their voices.

One thing about those reviews I do want to mention, however, was that comparisons of the two narrators were made. I thought they were both equally great, one due to the sheer sexiness of his voice and the other for his adeptness at bringing out the voices of other characters. After I finish the sequel, US, which I now own (of course), I'll definitely want to LISTEN to HIM again.

The love story of Ryan Wesley & Jamie Canning has brightened my world.
Thank you Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy and Teddy Hamilton & Jacob Morgan.

In love with this audio

The guys will have a chunk of my heart forever. OMG I loved Wes and Jamie so much. It was so interesting to see how their relationship progressed. How Wes always had feelings for Jamie and how much he longed for Jamie. It made my heart ache. LOVED IT

Perfect Thanksgiving weekend reads

Always a fan of the journey themed stories, and HIM did not disappoint. Elements at times felt (a little too much) like another hockey themed story, Understatement of the Year, although that book had a tighter focus making the hockey storyline more believable.

At times HIM takes a more standard approach to romance, Ryan comes from a wealthy, cold family, while Jamie's large family is solidly middle class setting up the standard of the guy who just wants to be loved, and who better than someone who knows what love feels like. Other tropes? Ryan has insecurities and makes some bad decisions. Ryan has to prove himself and makes some bad decisions. While some of these decision are predictable and necessary to the format, lesser talents could ruin the character, however, Ryan is written so well that the opposite happens. He is without malice, and deeply sympathetic. It is easy to love both these guys.

I have to say that, while I am a huge fan of Teddy Hamilton, his distinctive flat vowels put me in every other book he’s narrated when I hear words like coffee or awesome.

Very few complaints - really just nitpicking, immediately read the next title. If you liked any aspect of HIM, you will likely enjoy US.

Audiobook is the ultimate way to enjoy this!

Well-paced and written, with likable protagonists and steamy scenes that are satisfying and not cringe-worthy. The storyline is a little generic, but does not detract from the overall experience. Great narrators, listening is really the ultimate way to enjoy this book.
