"The People of the Black Circle" is one of the original books featuring Conan the Cimmerian (or Conan the Barbarian), written by American author Robert E. Howard. It is set in the pseudo-historical Hyborian Age and concerns Conan kidnapping a regal princess of Vendhya (pre-historical India) and foiling a nefarious plot of world domination by the Black Seers of Yimsha. "The Tunnel Under the World" is a science fiction short story by Frederik Pohl. It was first published in 1955. "The Importance of Being Earnest" is a play by Oscar Wilde. First performed in 1895 in London, it is a farcical comedy in which the protagonists maintain fictitious personæ to escape burdensome social obligations. Working within the social conventions of late Victorian London, the play's major themes are the triviality with which it treats institutions as serious as marriage, and the resulting satire of Victorian ways. Contemporary reviews all praised the play's humor.

"Mother Goose in Prose" is a collection of twenty-two children's stories based on Mother Goose nursery rhymes. It was the first children's book written by author L. Frank Baum, published in 1897. The author himself gives a great introduction to the book: "Many of these nursery rhymes are complete tales in themselves, telling their story tersely but completely; there are others which are but bare suggestions, leaving the imagination to weave in the details of the story."

This is the original story that would later become "Alice in Wonderland". The journey began at Folly Bridge in Oxford and ended 3 miles northwest in the village of Godstow. During the trip, Lewis Carroll told the three young daughters of his friend a story that featured a bored little girl named Alice who goes looking for an adventure. The girls loved it, and one of them, Alice Liddell, asked Dodgson to write it down for her. On 26 November 1864, he gave Alice the handwritten manuscript of "Alice's Adventures Under Ground".

"Shadows in the Moonlight" is starring the sword and sorcery hero Conan the Cimmerian (a.k.a. Conan the Barbarian). The story is set in the pseudo-historical Hyborian Age and concerns Conan escaping to a remote island in the Vilayet Sea where he encounters the Red Brotherhood, a skulking creature, and mysterious iron statues. Oh, and there's also a slave girl named Olivia, once a princess of Koth, to keep Conan company on the island.

A spaceship is attacked by a mysterious sphere, a defense mechanism belonging to the planet that the spaceship has been surveying. The spaceship wins the battle with the sphere but is badly damaged, as well as the crew. They land on the strange planet for repairs and encounter humanoid life forms with advanced telepathic abilities. The humanoids seem friendly, but are they to be trusted ultimately...?

"Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz" is the fourth book (among many!) set in the Land of Oz by author L. Frank Baum, published in 1908. Written shortly after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and around the time Baum moved to California, the book starts with an earthquake in California. Dorothy and others - such as Eureka (her cat), Zeb (her cousin) - are riding a buggy being pulled by a cab-horse named Jim, when suddenly they are swallowed up by cracks in the earth, and fall into an underground cavern, where they begin their adventures, including meeting a race of people made entirely out of vegetables... this will be the least strange part of this wonderful story!

"The Emerald City of Oz" was published in 1910. It is the story of Dorothy and her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em coming to live in Oz permanently due to the impending loss of their farm in Kansas because of a terrible tornado. While they are toured through the Quadling Country, the Nome king is assembling allies for an invasion of Oz! In this adventure the listener is in for a real treat, meeting more of the wonderful inhabitants of Oz than ever before (as well as some of the scary folk from the underground Nome Kingdom).

"The Interstellar Medical Service was just about the only remaining galactic organization that every one of the hundreds of inhabited planets respected. "Ozma of Oz", published in 1907, was the third book of L. Frank Baum's Oz series. It was the first in which Baum was clearly intending a series of Oz books. The full and very long title of the work gives the listener a good idea of what pure delights to expect: "Ozma of Oz: A Record of Her Adventures with Dorothy Gale of Kansas, Billina the Yellow Hen, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsman, Tik-Tok, the Cowardly Lion and the Hungry Tiger; Besides Other Good People too Numerous to Mention Faithfully Recorded Herein..."

"The Misplaced Battleship" is a sci-fi short story by author Harry Harrison, published in 1960. James Bolivar DiGriz, alias "Slippery Jim" and "The Stainless Steel Rat", is a fictional character and the protagonist of a series of comic science fiction novels by the same author. "Slippery Jim" is the listener's wonderfully sly, funny and resourceful hero in this entertaining and amusing work; where he has to investigate and - hopefully! - solve the case of a dangerous battleship floating around unaccounted for.
