About this listen

Do you believe in love at first sight?

Corey Ellis sure doesn't. Oh, everyone around him seems to have found their happy ending, but he's far too busy to worry about such things. He'll have plenty of time for romance after he survives his last summer before graduation. So what if he can't get his former professor, Jeremy Olsen, out of his head? It's nothing more than hero worship. And that's the way it should stay.

Except bi-gender Corey - aka Kori - is interning at Phoenix House for the summer, an LGBTQI youth center. A center that recently hired an interim director until someone can be found to fill the position permanently.

Because life is extraordinarily unfair, the director just so happens to be a certain former professor, now turned current boss.

Desperate to keep things professional as he and Jeremy grow closer, Corey makes a major mistake: He turns to his friends, Paul Auster and Sanford Stewart, for help.

But Paul and Sandy have some ideas of their own....

Contains mature themes.

TJ Klune did it again

once again TJ Klune wrote another story that makes me wish I had people like that in my life. I love the family he created and wish I was a apart of it. Thank you TJ Klune

I love these people!

This was a wonderful way to end the At First Sight series. Corey is smart, funny, witty, and sometimes so awkward it makes me blush! I love all the times Jeremy is just thrown for a loop by the things Corey says and does. Corey fits right in with Paul and Sandy with the hilarity mixed with a vulnerability that tugs at my heart. I'm so glad Jeremy came along, caring so much for the bi-gender, biracial amazing person that is Corey/Kori.
Charlie and Robert, Paul and Vince (and Wheels), Sandy and Darren, Matty and Larry, Nana and Johnny Depp, and now Corey/Kori and Jeremy. Characters I adore and will revisit over and over. I love and recommend this series, and I especially recommend it in audio.
The previous books in this series were performed by a different narrator who is a favorite, so it took a while for me to adjust to the new voices. However, this is also one of the narrators I love to listen to, and he did a wonderful job, as always. Listening to this story, and laughing and crying as I drove down the interstate, was wonderful. I will continue to re-listen and imagine myself as an honorary Auster. I love and recommend this audiobook.

fantastic or actually eggtastic 🤣🤣🤣🤩🤩🤩

It's review time 🎧 this will be an eggstraordinary one.

Narrator score🎧 ; ok, I will admit I was so disappointed that Michael Lesley wasn't the narrator of this one. And yes I adore Sean Crisden so much! But I was so delighted by this preference!!!! It was incredible!!!!! I loved it so!!!

Level of steam🔥: it's a tj book and for those of you that read his books already probably will not expect what happened in this book 😂😂😂 it was hot and hilarious! I loved everything about it. Because potassium is good for you and it will be egglicious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: this book is part of a hilarious series. So no the book isn't sad it's a full-on funny story that will make you laugh so much.

The book itself📖: wow, I just can't say enough about the importance of this story for the gay community. This book speaks about very important political and nonpolitical real issues that the gay community struggles with on a daily basis. It was written brilliantly like only this storyteller can tell us in his incredible way.
This book is so important today a few months before us elections... and it's incredibly beautiful funny and amazing!
I think it's the most important book that tj wrote.
Not the best book (because I don't think there is such a thing all his books are amazing) but the subject is so well written that I just can rant and rant about it...
P.s. I really really want a book about Santiago now.

Another hit from TJ Klune!

Nobody writes about “Found Family” better than Klune! And while that’s just one of the major themes of this book, and this series as a whole, it shines through everything else so beautifully.

After reading/listening to the first 3 books of this series, and also the ‘Bear, Otter, and the Kid’ series, it was great to have a book just for Corey/Kori, for their story, from their POV. They’re such an interesting character on their own and TJ did an amazing job (as always) with this one. I’ve read other reviews stating this book got too political, but I have to disagree with that. I think, when you consider the US political climate in 2016, especially from the LGBTQIA+ community’s perspective, it’s something that needs to be addressed and explored. And even more so in the context of this story, when the MC is working with youth in the community, who I know from personal experience felt extremely confused, angry, and anxious throughout that time.

Now about the narration… while I was initially bummed that Michael Lesley wasn’t the Narrator on this book (bc I absolutely adore him!), and while it did feel somewhat jarring to have a new narrator on the 4th book in a series who pronounced names differently and seemed to give characters different vibes entirely, I still thought Sean Crisden did an excellent job and shouldn’t be faulted for his differences to Lesley.

Overall, I think if you enjoyed the first 3 books in the series, you will enjoy this one just as much—possibly even more. And I absolutely recommend it, as I’d recommend any other book by this author. Any - and ALL - of Klune’s books are worth checking out, and definitely worth the credit or cost!

What a marvelous ending to a great series. I love the final message as well as all the messages in the book. I especially loved the shot ( hope and wish)at a certain person in jail. Cross our fingers!! Thank you for a fun and insightful and inspiring book. Cheers!

Thank you!

The story is so perfectly written and the humor really shines through in the performance! I would laugh so hard that tears would form in the corner of my eyes. I think my coworkers though I was watching tv on my phone when I was really just listening to this book! 💜

Loved the Book

OK..here's my disclaimer..I LOVED this book when I read it and I have loved absolutely every single book in this entire series. However...Sean Crisden...while I love his narration in the BOATK (Bear, Otter and The Kid) series it was not at all good for this characters story. He didn't convey the sass that is Corey/Kori I just kept thinking to myself...why is Otter in this book. Maybe that's just me and I have typecast him as that group of characters but there was some pronunciation problems and just not the voice in my internal voice cannon. The book itself is amazing truly, wayyyy more political than any of the others in the series but that's not a drawback. So for those readers who have loved the entire series you might be a little disappointed in the narration of this iteration. There are moments that are well performed but overall not the Corey/Kori I was looking forward to journeying with. I love your other work Sean I really do I just wanted more from Corey/Kori.

Finally!!

I loved this book as much as the rest in this series. I’m heart broken that Michael Lesley didn’t narrate this book. Sean Crisden is great but doesn’t have the same range that Lesley has. The book it self is more political than most of Klune’s other books. I think it represents the climate we are facing beautifully. It touches my heart reading his books and I love that e references both the bear otter and the kid series along with how to be a normal person and how to be a movie star. It’s fun to see all his worlds coming together in one final book. I’m sad to say goodbye to this cast of characters
