Help is here

This book has been an incredible resource as I support my friend who’s navigating the challenges of raising a teen with autism. It offers practical advice from a mom who’s been through it all, making it easy to empathize and provide meaningful help. The sections on managing bullying, advocating in school, and fostering positive relationships gave me a better understanding of what my friend’s family is going through. I especially appreciated the steps for helping teens transition into adulthood independently—it’s inspiring to see such a focus on empowerment. If you’re supporting a loved one on this journey, this book is a fantastic guide to offer encouragement and practical insights. Highly recommend!

An absolute must read

As a grandmother for a 13 year old step grandson that just came into my life recently, I found myself struggling to communicate and interact with him. I didn’t have the skill set or the patience to be the grandma that I am to all my other grandchildren
I took this as a challenge, and have been educated myself on how to be there for his needs with understanding, empathy, and the right thing to say.
This book has so many tips and skills to help.
I have so many friends who have children, grandchildren, friends, and relatives that are on the spectrum. It is so wonderful that she is bringing this out to the light.
These children are precious and they add a wonderful dimension to our lives. Thank you for writing this.

A Great Resource For Parents Of Teens With Autism

I have several family members who have been diagnosed with high-functioning autism, and this book has served as an amazing guide to help me with them when interacting with them. The strategies in this guide are super helpful and effective. I wish I had this book years ago to help. I like the fact that it is a workbook and is easy to use. Unfortunately, most parents don’t know what to do when their kids or even teens are diagnosed with this, and this book is a beacon of hope for them. I highly recommend this book.

Comforting Resource

This audiobook fell into my hands at the right time, with my son turning 12 soon. As a parent of a son on the spectrum, I’ve always worried about how he'll navigate a world that doesn’t always embrace differences, especially when it comes to bullying. This book spoke directly to those concerns and offered so much guidance on how I can support him through adolescence. Parenting an autistic child is already challenging, but when teenage hormones come into play, it’s a whole new level of unpredictability. From managing his emotional outbursts to helping him cope with anxiety and encouraging him to see the value in his individuality, I’ve faced many challenges along the way. This book reminded me I’m not alone in this journey and offered me great comfort.

Strategies and compassion.

The author was pragmatic in approaching the topic. No finger pointing, just a feeling of understanding the situation and distrusting best case solutions. It’s nice to see so many tools available for parents. The author includes a lot of pressures ranging from anxiety, bullying, school transitions, sexual curriculum, and others. Overall the book is about fostering positive relationships.

Excellent Guide to Your high functioning teen!

What impacted me first was understanding their childhood will be different than mine and it’s ok! It’s easy to struggle with things being different. Also, making sure you are modeling exercise and encouraging it and creating behaviors and routines with exercise to make sure it’s happening. It has not only been helpful for me but also in creating a good bond my teen! Making sure I have fun with them and foster the relationship. Another section I found helpful was understanding the school system and being patient with progress, as it can be slow with getting the right help and understanding the process. This can definitely be frustrating as a parent that wants things done as quickly as possible! I can be an advocate: let other people know my child’s diagnosis and our goals! Definitely a must listen!
