Hearts, Hardships, and Harrowing

I took a few days between finishing this book and reviewing it because I wanted to give it the time that it deserved.

I listened to this on Audible, as the author gave it to me in this form for review. I looked up the page numbers, as I couldn't believe the emotional roller coaster Ms. Shaw took me on in such a short time. In case you're wondering, it's 97 pages of writing from cover to cover.

Almost immediately, the female main character experienced a traumatic event. The male main character, who came to her rescue, became lovingly protective of her. She and he began to have feelings for each other. As a female reader who has experienced somewhat similar and significant trauma to the very young woman, I felt an immediate connection to her. This also led me to feeling grateful for the man who helped her.

The story leads us, very quickly through terrifying events with historical nuances. As a reader, I was momentarily transported into a Jewish family, language, dialect, and I swear I could taste and smell the foods and scents described.

I don't like to give spoilers, so I strongly encourage you to read this book yourself! I'm sure the physical book is amazing, but I LOVED listening to the author's narration on Audible! Perhaps give immersive reading a try doing both at the same time!

This is the second book I've read by Alexandra Shaw. She has several more! I am thrilled to say that this is a 5 ⭐ read for me, and I will eagerly read more by her!

Forbidden love and a narrow escape, this short story has it all.

If you like Historical Fiction, forbidden love, long lost love, and a perilous escape you need to read this book!

Set in the perious times of World War II this unique love story is based on a true story.

A young girl in a politically dangerous climate meets her hero, but will their love stand the tests of war, prejudice, time, and distance?

Content warnings: Spice, war, racial hate

I loved this story. I did skip the spicy bit at the end, but this dramatic forbidden love story is well worth the read.

The narrator was good for the story.

This story

You know yeah hardly ever hear about What happened to the jews after the holocaust. And this gives you a snippet. Of how hard life is when people are actually Discriminated against, there are so many people that talk about discrimination , but they never talk about how Much the jews have been discriminated historically. And are still being discriminated and persecuted To this very day.And only because of their faith , which is ridiculous. My heart goes out with this story. I did enjoy.
The love story of the ages.
And time and distance
