About this listen

Escape to the seaside village of Little Pondale with part three of this heartwarming and romantic four-part serial.

Mia Ward was amazed to inherit her great-aunt Matilda’s thatched cottage in the tiny seaside village of Little Pondale - especially as Mia didn’t know she had a great-aunt Matilda. She was equally astonished to discover she’d inherit the place only if she lived there for a year. But it didn’t take long for Mia and her friends, Ella and Garrick to settle in.

Now Mia’s mum, Lori, has joined them, and they’re all enjoying village life. Mia’s keen to overcome her fear of water, and with Garrick by her side, she’s confident about the future. Until a fortune-teller’s predictions give everyone cause for concern. Now Mia’s not so sure of anything, except that someone still wants her to leave.

But as the mists roll in over the sea, are autumn winds making passions cool? And when more than one unexpected visitor gives Mia a shocking surprise, is everything about to change?

Amazing Book 2

One of the best books I ever listened to. So many genres all in one book. Wish there were more in the series. Looking for more by this author.

It’s a good story and interesting characters. It’s a feel good story. It was free on Audible.

Absolutely Enjoyed

I loved this story. It read like a poignant comedy, (think “Love Actually”). The narrator does a smash up job…..omg……really, really is a pro at injecting the requisite annoyance exactly where it belongs. I can sense her brown stained devilish grin every time she utters a “bloody Nora” or “cooeeeeee”. She knows she’s grinding on our nerves and the little minx loves to imagine our grimaces, I am quite sure.

Several times I wanted to shake some sense into Mia. These people can’t seem to get out their own way. But I adored the cozy nearness of the locals in a very small village. I felt like I was one of them and right now with the current world news cycle, I needed the escape. Just closed my doors and blinds, curled up and went to visit the odd but strange citizens of Lily Pond.

I sincerely hope Emily writes more, and that Penny narrates. They are a fantastic duo. I don’t know why these titles are buried so far under the piles. They shouldn’t be. Audible does a disservice to listeners by not providing much of a chance of finding good material like this. I get tired of seeing the same old titles, month after month, on rotation as if they were the only selections on offer. Gems like this make my membership worth the price I pay, I just wish I didn’t have to wear my fingers down to the nub scrolling to find them!
