Publisher's summary

An achingly funny story from the author of the best-selling You Had Me at Hello.

When Edie is caught in a compromising position at her colleagues' wedding, all the blame falls on her - turns out that personal popularity in the office is not that different from your school days. Shamed online and ostracised by everyone she knows, Edie's forced to take an extended sabbatical - ghostwriting an autobiography for hot new acting talent, Elliot Owen. Easy, right?

Wrong. Banished back to her hometown of Nottingham, Edie is not only dealing with a man who probably hasn't heard the word no in a decade but also suffering an excruciating regression to her teenage years as she moves back in with her widowed father and judgy, layabout sister.

When the world is asking who you are, it's hard not to question yourself. Who's that girl? Edie is ready to find out.

Always a winner

The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because I always want a little more of the final relationship. Even an epilogue would give that final closure. That being said, I really enjoy all of this author’s work. Smart characters and wonderful banter. I rarely write reviews but have done so more than once for this author. Thanks for the many hours of entertainment!

I Couldn’t WAIT to Write This Review!!!

I absolutely LOVED this book. The main character was so lovable, in all her flaws. The supporting character were very well thought out, I believe. There were moments that had me just sitting in rapt attention hanging on the readers each word. At one point I even shed a tear!!! I’ve never cried listening to an audio book!!!

I just loved this book and felt this weird almost…grief when it was over. I miss Edie. What a fantastic listen. It’s long, and that may put some off, but I loved it. The writer didn’t leave anything dangling or rush any endings. Freaking. Fantastic. Going to try and find more from this without immediately.

Great read!!!!

Very entertaining story. Ending was unpredictable, though slightly disappointing as you root for the characters.

That ending! Uuuuuuuggggggggg!

Great book. I really enjoy this author and have just binged 4 books in a row of hers. But the ending of this book…. I actually just screamed out loud. Really??

Stellar!

Cute, well-written, uplifting, and well-grounded rom-com! The storyline flowed and the characters were well thought out. I love seeing the character progression. it is so refreshing to enjoy books written from the perspective of someone who is well-versed in what healthy relationships and good boundaries look like!!!!! The narration was good as well.

Great story! Narrator pronunciation is a bit distracting

Is it normal to pronounce schedule as cheshwall? Aside from that, great story overall. I would’ve liked more at the end but it ended on a surprising note. Refreshing.

A surprise clever ending

Reviews are subjective so here's one person's take ...I am not British but I really enjoyed and get this writers humor! My 2nd book of hers. The story went a tad long and I felt annoyed a bit in a few sections as it gets a bit heavy ( but the writers humor is always present ) ... the story gives you at the very end, a lighter thoughtful decision making ending with happier people. The end both surprised me and made me laugh. Suddenly that's it the story is over. I felt satisfied and the end is open to your own interpretation or thought.

PS I am not a writer hope this makes sense.

Worth a listen!

I listened over a 2 day period and was sorry when it ended. Good story and character development. I have enjoyed all her books. The narrator took awhile to get used to, she was breathy and paused often. Overall great book!
