Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey returns with an all-new sports rom-com about a burly, surly single dad who falls head-over-hockey-stick for his quirky live-in nanny...

Tallulah is smart, vivacious, and studying to be a marine biologist. She’s also twenty-six and broke. So when Burgess, a battle-scarred hockey veteran and newly single dad, offers her a job as his live-in nanny, she jumps at the opportunity to get paid while living in a super fancy neighborhood and being around Lissa, his cool but introverted tween.

Her tween charge isn’t the only one who could use some help fitting in, though. According to…well, everyone except Burgess, he needs to get back on the dating scene, and adventurous Tallulah is just the girl to show him how. But as boundaries are slowly crossed and Burgess finds himself pulled between his daughter, who wants her parents back together, and his insane chemistry with Tallulah, a huge rift is formed, and Tallulah does the “right” thing—breaks her own heart and walks away.

Though Burgess knows it’s for the best—he’s too jaded, with too much baggage—a chance meeting, and a new push from his daughter, forces him to put everything on the line and fight to prove he learned his lessons well and is worthy of a happily ever after with Tallulah.

Tessa Bailey Never Fails...

Tessa Bailey is one of my favorite authors, up there with Nora Roberts and Jude Deveroux for me. I loved this second book in this series more than the first book, which I devoured in a day. The big issue for me was the intonation of the narrator when she's doing the male voices, sound like they have to pull the words out of her, makes the male lead sound almost whiny. That was annoying and distracting, however, the storyline kept me going. 10/10 would recommend this book.

Enjoyed it

I liked the first book more but this story was nice to listen to and what I was hoping for with reading another one of Tessa’s novels.

Two likeable people

I liked the story. The characters were likable and I enjoyed the evolution of their storyline. I could’ve used a little less sex scenes, but they were fine. I wanted to rate the whole thing a five but my phone screen doesn’t allow me to type to the far right. So it was recorded as a four incorrectly.

Heart-wrenching and Heartwarming

Oh my heart! Sir Savage and his Tallulah are an intense and sweet couple.
Tessa Bailey walks through their ups and downs and we feel every single emotion.
Her Burgess makes your heart race and blood pressure rise. I can picture this hockey clearly in my mind. Tallulah is absolutely precious. She is such a strong character, although she doesn’t know it until she spends time with Burgess.
It’s a beautiful love story with a heartbreaking issue. One of those critical problems that you’re not sure how or even if they’re going to get through.
Five Stars to Tessa Bailey and Callie Dalton ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Best one yet

Loved this book soooo much. Way better than Fangirl. This story is way more believable and does not at all give a stalker vibe like Fangirl.
Love Birgis Abraham

Tessa Bailey fan-really enjoyed it!

As soon as Tallulah and Burgess met in Fangirl Down, I wanted them to get a story and pre-ordered this! Really enjoyed the book, always love Tessa Bailey!

Bland and overdone

I honestly thought it would be amazing considering the way they met in the first book, the chemistry was palpable…sadly fell off for me I had to skip all the trauma dumping and incoherent whiplash from all the inner monologuing and the I love you but I’m scared to love you that’s just overdone when it comes to age gap romance books. I thought it would be different since Tessa’s witty banter writing is what initially got me into her books, however, this one was a no from me.

Burgess 😍

Wonderful love story. Narrator is great. I forget that it’s a woman doing both parts. The only thing that would make it better is if they re-recorded it and added in a male narrator, like Jason Clark (he’d be a perfect fit) and made it in duet. Aside from that, I loved the whole book.
