Acerca de esta escucha

It’s been three years since the Virgil County High School Massacre. Three years since my best friend, Sarah, was killed in a bathroom stall during the mass shooting. Everyone knows Sarah’s story - that she died proclaiming her faith.

But it’s not true.

I know because I was with her when she died. I didn’t say anything then, and people got hurt because of it. Now Sarah’s parents are publishing a book about her, so this might be my last chance to set the record straight...but I’m not the only survivor with a story to tell about what did - and didn’t - happen that day.

Except Sarah’s martyrdom is important to a lot of people, people who don’t take kindly to what I’m trying to do. And the more I learn, the less certain I am about what’s right. I don’t know what will be worse: the guilt of staying silent or the consequences of speaking up....

The narrators were great and the plot flows but I wonder wonder 🤔 about the number count on victims. Still a great listen.

I've read the hard cover book and couldn't put it down. I wanted to listen to it and wasn't disappointed. In some aspects this book was very relatable and I highly recommend it!!

Must Listen

this is by far the best narration I've heard on Audible. it wasn't a story I'd typically be into but her voice kept me captived!

very well read!

Lee Bowers, a survivor of a school shooting, determines to gather stories of the other survivors. The telling of theses stories disputes a commonly held mythology concerning one of the students who died and her behavior before death. The “truth” has consequences.
I loved this coming of age story and the incredible descriptions of the impact of trauma. When I worked as a registered nurse in the ER of the local Level One Trauma Center, we would hold debriefs after work, in addition to formal debriefs that occurred during the day. We would wrap around the nurse who had with the team tried to save a life. Like a silk glove of comfort we would listen to that nurse’s story. There is something healing sharing our stories of bearing witness to and or directly experiencing trauma with those who have shared experiences.

The only thing I didn’t like is that they didn’t say for example Chapter 12 when the chapters switched so I didn’t known where I was in the book otherwise great book.
