Publisher's summary

Homicide detective Maxim Dwyer is tired of small-town secrets. The residents of Sanctuary, Arizona, whisper of creatures in the woods of Sycamore, a sprawling wildlife area undisturbed by the progress of the modern world.

Diego de la Torre is the latest stranger drawn to the mountain town. The brash biker is used to skirting the law, but his clashes with the local motorcycle club might make his stay a short one.

Together, detective and outlaw make an unlikely pair, but they aren't the only ones under the Sycamore moon that are more than they seem. Criminals, bikers, and dirty cops are one thing, but Maxim and Diego quickly learn there are even worse things in the wild.

This box set contains the first three Sycamore Moon novels:

  • The Seventh Sons
  • The Blood of Brothers
  • The Green Children

Think Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy, and The X-Files wound into taut thrillers that don't let up.

Disappointed

Let me start by saying I'm reviewing this as all three books and I like Domino Finn's other works, I just couldn't get into this one.

The first book actually starts off very well. We have a good premise and it feels very Sons of Anarchy with Werewolves and if it had ended with the first book, there would be more stars on this review.

The problem comes in the second and third books. There really isn't any more story there. The first book wraps up the story of the Main Character and the Motorcycle Club too nicely. While the world-building was great and the characters were interesting, their motivation is now missing after the first book. If anything, Finn has to shoehorn in reasons for these characters to continue interacting. By the third book, the main character isn't even the driving character of the story. I'm glad I got three for one. While they are entertaining, it seems this series started with Biker Werewolves and has slowly migrated away from that.

It feels like eating pumpkin pie but, halfway through, it turns into lime gelatin. I don't hate lime gelatin, but if I wanted that, I would have started eating it. The bait and switch is what makes the experience disappointing.

It feels like Finn didn't know where to go after the first book and is just coming up with a new idea, dropping his characters from the previous books into it and gluing the plot together around them.

He's still a good writer, I just can't imagine going forward with this particular series.

Great value fun urban fantasy

I really enjoyed this series of three books for the price of one. Good setting in Arizona. Interweaving of first nations and European mythology.

All bark, no bite!

I really wanted to like these books, but there really wasn't much werewolf action. If you are looking for some werewolves causing chaos, look elsewhere.

As dry as old chicken

This series reads more like a documentary then fantasy. It's just liking character details and that personal touch. honestly reading this series I didn't care what happened to the characters because they didn't seem real. Domino's Fins other series was spectacular and I would highly recommend it's. That's why I get this series a shots.
